On Aug. 21, 2015, the world watches in stunned silence as the media reports a thwarted terrorist attack on a train that's bound for Paris -- an attempt prevented by three young Americans traveling together through Europe. A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows

I admit I'm a life-long Clint Eastwood fan. I also know he has an uphill battle in Hollyweird because he tends to portray conservative values and masculinity an heroism in the face of the media's liberal resistance. His films portray strong men doing good deeds, which the radical left feels is somehow inappropriate so his films get slammed in the ratings. This is a great film. Maybe a little clunky and slow at times but the message is 100% gold.

I had never heard of this movie when I found this in Target the other day. The description on the cover was interesting so I bought the DVD. I should have previewed the movie before I bought it because it was a mistake. Casting the three heroes as themselves was the biggest mistake. It clearly showed that they were not actors and some scenes were so flat that it sounded like they were reading the lines off of the cue cards. It made me appreciate how difficult a job it is to act professionally; I would have probably sounded the same way. Also the plot was not interesting - the actual attack scene on the train was less than ten minutes, and that included the aftermath when they are caring for the wounded. The rest is a movie-length flashback to the three friends as they grow up together, from meeting at a ridiculously strict Catholic school to joining the military / starting careers, and then a long tour of Europe where they sample the local beer, talk to women and dance to mediocre Techno music. No backstory on the terrorist or scenes from his perspective, which might have made the story marginally interesting. I gave the movie 1 star for each of the three heroes; meaning no disrespect to them but this movie just did not work.

There's a reason acting is a profession. Between the lack of writing and the "acting"; it was just painful.Huge Eastwood fan, service member, knew the story pretty well and was excited to see it was still just terrible. Made "Act of Valor" look like Star Wars.

Firstly let me say that the three guys who thwarted this disgusting scumbag's attempted terrorist attack were absolute heroes and they deserved all the medals they received from both the French and American governments. However, Clint Eastwood, who I have always previously admired, should be ashamed of this unbelievably tedious film which at times seemed to be more of a Judith Chalmers travelogue than what it should have been - an incredibly tense and exciting thriller. It went all the way back to their childhood with irritating cutesy American kids and their doting MOMS and went on to their training and then spent ages with them touring the capitals of Europe on holiday!Interspersed with all this tedium were the moments leading up to and during the terrorist's attack on the train.Yes, it was helpful to have a little bit of their background but don't take up almost 3/4 of the film doing it! An absolutely bloody awful film. So, yes it was completely right to salute these guys' courage but IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A MOVIE, MR EASTWOOD.
