Best movie of this year hands down!
... View MoreExcellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
... View MoreBlistering performances.
... View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
... View MoreThats Carry on is not bad. But some scenes are poor. The clips are a good tribute. But the clips with Babs and Kenny are rude unfunny sad and embarrassing. The bit at the beginning where they are in the dark is crude. Its not funny you can guess straight away what they are saying means. " Push the knob in,it wont work unless you push the knob in". The whole script is poor. The end is pathetic with Kenny being locked inside the room when he is bursting for the toilet.Overall a poor Carry on.The carry ons where meant to be harmless fun. By 1976 onwards they had become a laughing stock. England was diabolical , Behind wasn't bad, Emmnanuelle was the lowest of all lows and definitely was the end. Colombus wasn't bad but sad. Thats carry on 5/10
... View MoreHunting through the archives in their local cinema, Kenneth Williams and Barbara Windsor dig out all the old classics and settled down to watch them while eating out of a hamper. The structure (as if to suggest there is one) involves them playing a few clips from each movie as they make regular quips in between. As always with the series, originality and production values were not always top of the agenda and so this idea was ripped off from the success of MGM's That's Entertainment so the Carry On producers were trying to get more money out of very little.Of course some of the clips are funny but if you are a fan you'll have seen them all before and will actually enjoy the films themselves rather than just watching the clips (and this isn't aimed at fans then who is it aimed at?). Not all the movies were much good though and it reflects in the fact that many of the clips are not that funny either. The interruptions (as the credits say) by Williams and Windsor all feel very cheap and lacking in imagination there is a fine line between witty innuendo and out & out crudity and they are way, way over that line here with a shed load of unimaginative and crude jokes around body parts, sex and going to the toilet. Of course this will not be too much of a shock to those who have seen any of the films but it is the way it is done here that put me off.Of course being a clips show we can't pick which ones we one to watch and therefore are lumbered with a lot of poor material just to get to the better stuff (much like the series over all) so I'd say just cherry pick the films themselves; that way you can select the better films, ignore the lesser ones and you won't have to put up with some real sub-par crudity from Williams and Windsor in cheap, dated clothing, not ever really putting the effort into it at all.
... View MoreThis remains the best compilation film to date. All the films except England (as this had just been released),Emmannuelle and Columbus (neither made yet) are here. However the best bits are the linking materials by Kenneth Williams and Barbara Windsor, especially KW's end speech- even though it is RUDELY interrupted by the credits. A MUST for any fan/interested party- Carry On Laughing/What A Carry On/Laugh With The Carry Ons (All compilation series) pale in comparison.
... View MoreThat's Carry On is an enjoyable nostalgic peek at twenty years of Carry On comedy. Co-hosted by Barbara Windsor and Kenneth Williams there is a chance to see them use their old bawdy jokes again between clips, sadly Williams' style of humour is very politically incorrect and stale - at some point the jokes about Williams personal parts are embarrassing even demeaning.Try to ignore the co-hosts at work though, and concentrate on the real humour during the great clips, which includes everybody's favourite stars and scenes. Great fun and bawdiness throughout, only for the true carry-on fan.
