everything you have heard about this movie is true.
... View MoreA brilliant film that helped define a genre
... View MoreThis movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
... View MoreI didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
... View MoreOkay. This was one of the weirder T.M movies that I've seen. I of course saw it in Japanese with subtitles in English and it was well...it was interesting to say the least. You've got some demon whose got a thing against someone (I can't remember it was 4-5 years ago that I watched it) and sends some dark creation of his to torment the Masaki household. While I found it to be a good movie, I think it was also dumb, all the other T.M movies were better then this one and yet you have something that is practically off a clothes line because they talked so freaking disjointedly, and you have the daughter who is...well with her being created and her hitting the Masaki household...the fur is bound to fly. Ryoko actually does good in restraining herself in this movie which is surprising because...well it just is. I also couldn't help but wondering was the demon a male or female cause I couldn't tell with the voice thing. This movie does have a good moral to it though and that is revenge helps no one, especially not demons who fell in love with a human
... View MoreTenchi 2, better known as Daughter Of Darkness, skips back and forth from present day Earth to the homeworld of Jurai in the distant past to a young Prince Yosho (Tenchi's Grandfather) during a festival of the planet's living, sentient trees and a young girl Yuszhuka, who was a playmate with the boy prince, and a terrible incident that seperated the two friends. We switch forward to a typical day in the Masaki household. Sasami cooking, Washu blowing things up, Ayeka sneaking around looking for Ryoko while the space pirate looks to get into Tenchi's bed when a mysterious stranger arrives. A young girl claiming to be Tenchi's daughter! Her presence sends the more jealous women into a spin cycle of recriminations and energy bolt battles, Sasami taking the child under her wing, super genius Washuu looking to perform tests on the girl's veracity and Tenchi wandering dazed, confused and downright mystified at the miraculous birth considering he is a virgin. The story's flashbacks begin to tie in the past with the present as the true nature of the girl becomes clear and her connection to Yosho's young ladyfriend from eons past come to light. It takes a different tack than most Tenchi adventures, and is rather short in comparision, but it offers up another look at one of the most dysfunctional extended "families" in Anime history, with clever and amusing results.
... View MoreTenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve had the opportunity to surpass Tenchi Muyo! in Love, but it failed miserably. The over-all plot was completely overlooked and there's a lot of things that remain un-answered. It was undeveloped and way too short. It needed more detail. I love the Tenchi Muyo! series and I like all the movies, including this one, but it could have been so much more.
... View MoreThe girl in question is Tenchi's self-proclaimed daughter, which of course sets all of the other females in a tizzy. A sweet, touching story about the power of love, and also contains quite a bit of character interaction that you might miss if you don't pay attention. Both versions are pretty decent, but purists would definitely want to go for the sub.
