It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

It's amazing how some movies have the power to tell complex stories through simple and predictable scripts. The complexity of this brand of storytelling lies in the depth of the central characters, each of whom have a beautiful journey of their own. Characters are not branded as heroes and anti-heroes, but just people. The film touches upon very basic human emotions in an honest way and leaves you feeling empathetic to each of the central characters, despite all their flaws. Page and Janney are incredible in their respective roles. They get into the skin of the characters and add their own personalities to them, which is quite rare. Hope their work receives some recognition in the awards season.

What a flaming pile of crap? The people who are rating this movie highly are crazy. I couldn't get through it because it's so boring. The actors are ugly, and playing characters that are trailer trash with no redeeming qualities whatsoever! I use this site to determine what might be a good bet on Netflix. In this case, that plan failed miserably. There is no way one could say this movie is awesome; no way. Do the rest of us a favor and submit honest reviews.

A magnificently well directed, written, and acted film. Though the story is nothing out of the ordinary, the way it explores and brings together the way many people live is amazing. From someone being homeless by choice, a separated marriage expert, to an alcoholic Beverly Hills wife, the film manages to depict their flaws as part of life.I have also just noticed, that the main protagonists in this film are female. While that is great, the fact that these women's lives are so linked with those of their male counterparts cancels out this potentially progressive film.Ellen Page has done a remarkable job in this film. While I admit that I have not seen her in many movies, I did not expect to see her in this kind of role. She pulls off the tomboy, doesn't-give-a-crap attitude with such precision that it is hard to remember she is acting. Janney also does well in her supporting role to Page. While a bit awkward at times, the chemistry between her and Page slowly develops as the characters bond. While there are many characters in this film, the story is carried predominantly by Tallulah. The story of her life as she lives carelessly moment by moment is disrupted by this one pivotal event. Heder does an incredible job at writing the story so that audiences can relate to the characters. These are characters that we might not take a second look at if we passed them by on the streets. Or might make a snap judgement about, and carry on with our lives. But, this film shows that there is more to a person than their appearance.Overall, a real gem of a movie that promises to engage you in its dialogue.

...Just like a lot of movies I've seen lately...that ending...wtf?! I can't stand movies with absolutely no closure for an ending (with the exception of a few psychological thriller, mystery/suspense, and horror movies). It's like everyone gets tired of making the movie so they just end it suddenly. All this time spent on character development...trying to make you like them or empathize with their situation, and yet you're not supposed to care about what happens to them or the outcome of the story? It's absurdity. Why the ratings are so high for this film is beyond me. Not the worst, but there are much better films out there. Watch I Heart Huckabees instead.
