Taking Chances Trailers

Kiek is worried as her father works in a war zone. To lengthen the odds of her father getting hurt, she comes up with a strange and unique idea: she needs a dead dog and a dead mouse, because Kiek doesn't know one person who has a dead mouse, a dead dog and a dead father. Surely the odds against that are enormous?

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

My family and I were very entertained by this delightfully moving , thoughtful, and amusing film which is based on Een Kleine Kans , the award winning book by Marjolijn Hof . The acting is natural , and excellent , with a fine performance by the newcomer Pippa Allen aged 10 yrs, playing the part of Kiek . The good reviews are well justified - it is a beautiful 'family movie ' - which will appeal to young and old alike . The clever animated sections are very good too as they indicate what might be going on in the mind of young Kiek who worries a lot about her doctor father being in a dangerous war zone in Afghanistan . The film exercises the emotions - a child of eight trying to cope with her anxieties and searching for a solution . Rather bizarre solutions result , involving a sick old mouse , and a dog , and many adventures ! It is so well directed too , and hopefully it will be distributed beyond Europe , with appropriate subtitles .
