a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

Rose (Amy Adams), can't seem to catch a break. Her mother committed suicide when she and her flaky sister, Norah (Emily Blunt) were young. It hasn't gotten any better, she's a single mother with a child whose been kicked out of school, and begins to realize her married cop boyfriend is never going to leave his wife.Rose's quirky Dad (Alan Arkin) tries to help out with Oscar, but he's already raised two girls on his own and wants to make more of himself. Fired from her housecleaning job and no money to get Oscar into a school that can help him, Rose's boyfriend Mac suggests she work some of the crime scene cleanups until she figures things out. This is a dark comedy, similar to Fargo, not for young viewers.

This movie wasn't the greatest. It didn't boast incredible performances. What it did do was make you wonder if a one armed man could snag Amy Adams. If that doesn't suck you in right there then this movie isn't for you. A middle aged single mom moves her maid business to the bio hazardous waste business. She recruits her sister and soon they begin to make good money. She has a son who just so happens to not be that annoying as a child actor. Alan Arkin is beside him in most scenes making his lines seem believable. There's a lot more to the movie but the overall summary is a feel good story about two sisters who despite their strong shells, have had a rough time in life. Not a comedy, but not a bore. Amy Adams cleavage is available in substantial amounts. If you want to sit down and leave saying "That was good ", then look no further this movie is for you. Unless your mother committed suicide, then this movie is directed towards you and I'm very sorry for your loss.

Is there, something that me, as a bloke, is missing here? It was directed by a woman. It was written by a woman. All the complimentary reviews on the box are from female publications. Perhaps the fact that while viewing it, feeling as bored and unfulfilled as I did, is down to an absence of estrogen in my system.I like to think not. I've seen plenty of so-called 'chick flicks' in my time which I've thoroughly enjoyed. Everything here though, from the one-armed love interest, to the disabled kid who's wiser than his peers, if straight out of screen writing classes 101. I've seen it all before, and done considerably better too.Worst still, nothing really happens. There's some half-baked nonsense about sisters coping with their mother's suicide and loser of a father, as well as extra marital affairs and taunts from old classmates. None of this adds up to anything interesting, and you just end up staring at the screen, while the stock characters and their tedious conversations wash over you. There is the germ of a good idea here. Who wouldn't want to see what cleaning up after a crime scene entails? These parts are the best in the movie, and witnessing the various fluids on the floor and our amateur Mrs Mops's reaction to them provides for a few sick laughs. But with the rest of the unoriginal tripe that's bundled along with it, make the movie impossible to recommend. 4/10

Similar to Little Miss Sunshine, this indie flick is a likable film with plenty of meaningful moments to savour on... all to come to a disappointment in the end.The film failed to cover the plot in a way by leaving holes and patches somewhere, where it could have strive to be as wholesome as possible. Many details critical towards the character developments are not explained or totally missing. It may be possible that it is the intention to leave the viewer more room for interpretation, however once too many details are left out, it only becomes distracting and serves to rob off the viewer's focus on what was going on.For example, who is the father of the child? How did the main character ended up with a life living by hand-to-mouth but still able to maintain her..err..relationship with a certain someone? Where is the certain reconciliation that was missing?
