... View MoreI am disappointed to say that this is only for the kiddies. Anyone older than a tween will probably be bored unless they're into movies for the tween crowd. I'm a teenager, and I don't want some sickeningly sweet, boring children's movie, even though this is made with a younger audience in mind, I just wish that it was more appealing for teenagers. The girls are sent off to Switchervania, what a confusing title, that almost sounds like Switcherland! Where they find many strange things, even a magic goose! They sneak pass the guards where they meet princesses and even have their own bedroom. The plot meanders before towards the end when they try to crown a beautiful woman instead of a witch. The plot is the same we've seen a thousand times before, and the characters are just the beautiful woman, evil woman, two cute kids with bratty faces being precocious. Even there was no clear story.Sophia Grace & Rosie's Royal Adventure was a cash cow on the girls from the Ellen Degeneres show. Too girly for boys and too childish for teens. Sophia Grace and Rosie are pretty cool, I know that they are just kids but I am not fond of their singing, dancing acting. They scream through out half of the film like 5-year-olds. I wish these people were in better films than this. This movie is full of bad acting, obvious dialogue, over-explanatory backstory, and not enough conflict. "Easy-peasy"I guess the kids had fun doing this movie but the superhero girl looks like she was cringing doing this stupid movie. This movie needs more originality. Even when you think that the movie was going to put something good in there, it just keeps going downhill. And then there's the happy ending. Oh my gosh, Ellen Degeneres, please don't torture me with another movie like this again!Grade: D+
... View MoreGood Lord. let me begin by first saying that I have never reviewed a movie (on IMDb) before. This film was simply so terrible that it demanded I enlighten all of you as to how tremendously bad it is. first of all; the characters are terrible. The two girls who make up the protagonists are god awful actress'. Sure, you can argue that little kids can't be expected to be good at acting yet. And this might be true, if it weren't for the fact that numerous movies have REALLY good child actors (e.i. Rue from the Hunger Games or Ender in Ender's Game). Even the kid in Iron Man 3 is a much better actor than these two. The ONLY plausible reason why these two are famous is because Ellen Degenerous(Spelling may be incorrect) says they are adorable. And as we all know; Ellen is the Oracle and everything she says is 100% fact and never opinion. It bothers me that two barely competent child actress' are getting tons of attention; whilst other young actors like the one who BRILLIANTLY brings the Joker to life in Fox TV's "Gotham" is flying under the radar. And it irks me greatly, that just because it's a kids movie, it gets a free pass for being awful. There are plenty of acceptable children's movies in the world-like Despicable Me, Madagascar or Inside Out. One of the main characters is a princess who sucks at being a princess; so she becomes the vigilante Artemis, who, I s*** you not, is a direct rip- off of DC Comic's Artemis; Green Arrow's sidekick and niece. And if you think they were just referring to the Greek goddess of hunting, you're sorely mistaken, since this version of Artemis wears the traditional and recognizable costume that is portrayed in the popular comics. This actress bothers me the most, as she is neither likable nor relate-able. The antagonist(s) in this movie are two other princesses who wish to be queen. I don't recall their names, since they were so generic and un-interesting. Both were snooty brats who did not seem to represent real people, more-so Barbie dolls being played with to be like Cinderella's stepsisters. The acting was bad, the script was bad, the story was boring, dull and conceited and the constant joke of Sophia and Rose accidentally making wishes with their magically duck (yeah, figure that one out) was hilariously and infuriatingly not funny. Avoid this movie at all costs.
... View MoreThe movie Sophia Grace & Rosie's Royal Adventure reminds me of a Cinderella fairy tale. There are two bratty sisters and a very innocent one named Abigail. It is similar to the Cinderella story because Abigail has two girls looking out for her as if they are her fairy godmothers. This movie is definitely an exciting royal adventure. The story begins when Sophia Grace and Rosie are sent on a special assignment to meet the princesses of Switzelvania to see which one will be crowned Queen. However, they loose their guardian and become mistaken as the King's great grand nieces. They end up having to teach the King's daughter, Princess Abigail, the ways of being a real princess. In the process, they get thrown into a dungeon because the bratty princesses (Abigail's sisters) don't want her to become Queen. However, at least they have their secret weapon. To find out what that is, you will have to watch the movie. In the end, everyone gets what they deserve! My favorite part is when the security guard tells the guardian, Phyllis Bunt (Amy Louise Wilson) that she can get out of jail if she reveals her true identity. She gives a made up name of Dynasty Composition knowing no one believes her real identity anyway. However, the security guard lies and won't let her out. Phyllis then jumps the security guard, ties her up and duck tapes her mouth. I didn't see that coming! It was hysterical. All the characters are great, especially Princess Cordilla (Emma Pierson) one of the princesses who makes fun of Abigail. She has a funny voice and isn't very smart and plays the part well. The main idea of this movie is that if you believe in yourself, you can make anything happen.I recommend this movie for kids ages 5 through 12. Specifically, girls will enjoy this movie, as every girl wants to imagine herself as a princess at some point. Therefore, I rate this movie a four out of five "dazzling" stars! Sophia Grace & Rosie's Royal Adventure is available now on DVD.Reviewed by Haley P, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. For more reviews go to kidsfirst dot org.
... View MoreMy daughter is 7 and is responsible for the 10 rating on this movie.Obviously it's not an Oscar winning movie, but it is on a par with the movies that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen used to do when they were young. It's a cute story about the Ellen Show sending the 2 girls to an invented country to report on the coronation of a new queen being chosen from 3 princesses, one of whom is socially inept in almost every way. This is where the girls excel by helping the hapless princess to discover her true inner princess. There are lots of cute songs, lots of genuinely cute moments as these adorable kids take over the whole movie. If you have kids under 10, especially girls, they will likely have a lot of fun.As a parent, I found it cute and not as annoying as some of the cheaper straight to video kids movies out there. In all, I'd say definitely rent it, your kids will be giggling and you'll be dancing along with all the catchy songs. And remember, it's aimed at under 10 year old girls really, so don't expect rocket science and if you really don't care for these 2 girls then avoid this one like the plague because they are in virtually every scene. (In my opinion they steal every scene with their totally lovable personalities!) As an adult I'd give this a solid 6/10, but as I said before, my 7 year old is the one I based my rating on and she said 10/10.I can see a lot more movies for these girls, perhaps with a slightly better storyline!
