It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

Hear ye! Hear ye! I have never seen a more absurd presentation of the birth of our nation in my life! It was 99.9% fiction! The only part of this series that was historical was the names . . . and I'm pretty certain our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves at the abuses to their stories as was expressed in this tripe! Walt Disney gave a more accurate account. The musical 1776 gave a more accurate account. And even if you call it fiction, it was still pathetic. There was no attention to detail or character development. The story went from event to event with little fluidity. All the characters were unlikeable. This movie should come with the warning: All resemblance to the truth is . . . and of a right ought to be . . . TOTALLY dissolved!!!

"Sons of Liberty" may not be comprised of historical facts that are 100% accurate. Oh well! Get over it. Observe how many films exist in our society that are based on history, but are not entirely accurate. We still watch them and find these movies entertaining and we as professional historians have the ability to research materials and find the truth and observe where these films are inaccurate. It's usually not a big deal! Therefore, my inquiry is: what is the real problem with "Sons of Liberty" that some of you have? My honest opinion is the negative comments in these reviews written for "Sons of Liberty" actually has nothing to do with historical accuracy, but political allegiance. If you watch this film with the hopes of acquiring a Marxist or Socialist perspective of the American Revolution and no other opinion suits you, I'm sorry to say that you will be disappointed. For those of you who are not open to the opinions of others, just keep in mind what Thomas Jefferson said:"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."In other words, Thomas Jefferson is not simply referring to questioning the existence of a higher power. He is claiming that a person must question themselves and their own beliefs to have a strong stance on their position. Do you question yours, or do you merely have the references which confirm your view? In conclusion, what this film strives to do more than anything is portray why the Founding Fathers started a Revolution against Britain and why they wrote the Constitution. I happen to find the History channel did this very well! Happy 4th of July everyone!

Spoiler alert! If you are trying to get a history lesson with period accurate props, script and language...move on, this is not for you. This is a History Channel production...that channel is run by Progressives and wouldn't dare provide real history in a program like this because it would fly in the face of the false narrative Progressives strive to teach our children about American History. With that said, it portrays the Americans in a surprisingly good light. The American Colonist's "American accents" and manner of speaking is "slight grin" type of funny if you take this little series for what it is..."entertainment". It's a fun, fast moving loose synopsis of the beginning of the American Revolution. It ends as the war just gets underway. This is not to be taken very seriously. It's a loose take on history, but not a historical drag like many serious history flicks can be.This is History Channel, people...it has about as much historically correct credence these days as the Weather Channel's regurgitating the "man made global warming" farce. Only a fool would believe it in total.

for everyone who says this show is fictitious how do you know the type of dialect that was used in colonial times in Boston for sure,or even the extent of details as to how events truly went down. Not one of you who writes these reviews was around then and most of you base your so called knowledge of how events went down in our countries history on school text books filled with misinterpreted information and fictitious history as well even propagandist at times.Which so many of you have been repetitively been taught to believe.Stop being so naive,This show is just another interpretation of how events might have gone down, with it's own little twist to it.You cant completely fit every event that shaped our history into a mini series hence (mini). It's going to be fast pace and yes this version is written and directed towards the younger crowd.I found it different and interesting as well as entertaining.History channel is still one of the best channels we have. Don't knock it for trying to educate a younger generation that has very little interest in our founding fathers. For those of you read this remember for every bad review there are as many good ones.Watch and be your own judge
