Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

I think (or i would like to think) the intention was the complete opposite of what the people who wrote and shot this movie really managed to do.This movie is racist ,i believe not by motivation, but by execution. The story has a moral that is expected and politically correct (and boring, superficial, etc), but beside the moral everything else is pretty much clumsy racism, which is ironic since the authors obvious desire to approach a serious issue was so badly written that it gave the opposite effect. And that is, for me, unintelligent writing at its best.It would be OK if they had no intentions of going down the path of the race issue, but they did, and failed. I could make elaborate points in favor of this argument, but it would be stupid to analyze something that is that bad. One example only, Brian has no friends in this movie (even a sociopath should be portrayed with some kind of a social network of his own), which makes no sense whatsoever, especially considering the type of character he plays.

I saw this movie on cable because I like Sanaa Lathan and I think she's a really good actress. I also Like Simon Baker. I thought he was great in The Guardian and The Mentalist. But this movie was a dumb poorly done story. The characters were stereotypical. The single love seeking Black Women who can't find any decent Black men (tired of that, I have one), the fun-loving, liberal, color-blind white guy (don't know any of those) and the outraged Black parents (please!). 'm just as liberal as everyone else but I just didn't believe any of this. I saw Guess Who's Coming To Dinner (the original) and we all loved it not because of its subject but because it was the first time that a Black man was portrayed as something other than a thug or drug dealer (beside Shaft). In fact most Black women hated the content of the movie but praised Poitier for his performance. And let's face it what self respecting Black woman would choose Simon Baker over Blair Underwood- not me!

This movie is the most insulting film to black men since Griffith's "Birth of a Nation". It is unbelievable to me that this was even made it today's world. I could give two craps if a black women dates, marries, or gets banged in the ass by a white man but how dare this writer & director portray black men the way they do. The black men in this film are over sexed driven jerk headed creep jobs. The one so called perfect Black man played by Blair Underwood is so creepy ANY woman would run from. I have 4 sisters who are smart and college educated who are married to 4 good black men who don't compare to any of the black me in this crap show. I am a black educated NON-CREEP normal man and this film really offended me because it makes it seem there are no options for Black Women and this just isn't true. Black men have enough problems in this country, we don't need crap propaganda like this out there to make things worse. And what the hell??? A Black High society cotillion, I don't think so!

Definitely a film for all mixed race couples to watch...full of emotion and a great movie to watch. It goes through the tough times of a couple - one of them is white, one of them is black. It goes through how their family and friends react, how they deal with such reactions but how their hearts react too. Due to the tensions that still exist between whites and blacks, especially in America, this movie is a complete icebreaker and it teaches that it isn't race that matters in a relationship or what anyone thinks, but love. It has an interesting ending and perfect for a night in with the ice cream. Definitely one of the better romance films of 2006.
