Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
... View MoreThe movie really just wants to entertain people.
... View MoreThe movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
... View MoreThe movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
... View MoreThis is literally the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. If you call this good acting, I could say I'm up for the Oscar's and I never acted in my entire life. My 3 years old would be able to write a better script and he doesn't know how to write yet. I just feel like I've been raped of my time. I feel ashamed to have watched such a piece of c***. The IMDb rating of this thing (it can't be qualified as a movie) is just unbelievable and the top reviews must have been bought or written by cast/family/producers. Before watching this, I didn't believe in God. Now I have to because I feel like I've just been in hell... Forget torture, waterboarding and all the horrible things you could think of, world has come up with the ultimate interrogation technique. Show this movie to anyone and he will tell you anything to stop the agony.
... View MoreThis film does an excellent job in painting the picture of a down and out guy who has one last chance. The story is the classic come-back-from-behind, a staple of sports movies, but the authenticity of the backdrop helps a great deal. Michael Irvin is excellent in an understated performance as the sports agent gone bad. He has a few skeletons in his closet and the film handles this cliché well. Chris Staples plays a ex con and convinces. The energy in the slam dunk contests is effortlessly captured. I found 'Slamma Jamma' clichéd but heartwarming and its one of my all time favorite sports movies.
... View MoreWorse than an after school special. 7.4 ? gimme a break. So many clichés and predictability. Acting is deplorable. Casting at its worst. I am so frutsated I want to leave white. however they ask for five lines minimum. didi IMDb rate this so high due to the hoop la created by Jaden Smith??
... View MoreSports movies are hard to make, if just because the filmmaker has to stay within the traditional structures of a picture while incorporating exciting sports sequences that do not appear contrived or rehearsedThose looking for a combination of fast breaking basketball sequences and slam dunk music video highlights will not find what they want in this film. While the movie does include a few basketball scenes, it focuses more on the human story of choice, responsibility, societal pressures, and heroism.Basketball, a sport traditionally dominated by Afro-Americans, offers the ideal symbol for the filmmaker's thought provoking critique of the flawed Afro-American Dream. The script is well-written and the direction strong.
