... View MoreThe plot outline of this film leads you to expect yet another Lifetime movie, complete with woman-mother in distress, bad male character responsible for her misfortune, a cute baby and redemption in the end. Well, the movie does indeed have all these elements, but fails the Lifetime test, as the acting is very good, the story well written, the film lean and tightly paced and the direction unusually good. The story lends itself to cliché and sentimentality, but the writer and director avoid these predictable tricks. The result is a movie with engaging characters and a mild twist or two that do not strain credulity. I found myself unexpectedly riveted to the plot and never bored. I've seen a number of the director's other films and this may be his best.
... View MoreLorraine Bracco is a pregnant woman who takes a bad spill down a flight of cement steps and ends up losing her baby. Or did she? She eventually decides to look into adopting, and ends up talking to a shady character who in fact helped swap her baby for a dead one in the hospital and then sold her baby to a childless couple. Bracco begins to smell a rat when, through the shady baby broker, she meets a woman with a baby for sale. The woman turns out to be the nurse who attended Bracco after her fall, and slowly but surely Bracco begins piecing together the truth. Not bad for a TV movie, but flat. Like most TV movies. Some familiar faces help keep things reasonable interesting: John Heard is Bracco's shady delivery doctor, and the wonderful Margot Kidder is a friend who also happens to be a DEA agent.
... View MoreI have recently seen the movie "Silent Cradle" and the only appealing aspect about this piece, is the young and handsome Jason Gedrick. The story- line and plot could be real- life scenarios. However, the story has been badly con-structured and the movie fails to delivery reasonable believe. The choice of actors and monologue written could have been further advanced and accurately managed. The film however, did have good elements inserted but there was a sense of misdirection. The picture and sound quality were fine and the editing was also well delivered. Although, if it wasn't for the acting talents of Lorraine Bracco and actor Jason Gedrick the film would have been unbearable to watch.I would recommend watching the movie for pure pleasure of Mr. Gedrick and but the movie itself "no".
... View MoreWWhen reporter Helen Greg(LORRAINE BRACCO)loses her baby in the delivery room her world is shattered in an instant. Depressed and looking for answers Helen buries herself in her work where while following up a lead on an adoption agency scam, she un-covers a truth that sends her spiralling out of control. Convinced that her baby is still alive,Helen becomes caught in a deadly race against-time,determined to to out manouvere a desperate and determined criminal! A descent straight-foward crime/drama though lack's additional character development that would've elevated this film above average and injected more empathy to the plot. All-round adequately directed/scripted, the lead acting performances are good by cast BRACCO,MARGOT KIDDER as Cop/friend to Bracco's character and bad-boy/villan's JASON GEDRICK and JOHN HEARD. This film was bought on video-tape as early christmas present for me by a friend,I liked it and recommend viewing to those that are fan's of the lead actors or of crime/genre stories!
