Samurai Cat: The Movie Trailers

The ever versatile Kazuki Kitamura stars as masterless samurai Kyutaro Madarame, a feared swordsman who has fallen on hard times in old Edo. Caught between two warring gangs in an epic battle of cat lovers and dog lovers, he begrudgingly accepts the canine faction's offer to assassinate the opposite leader's beloved pet: an adorable white cat. Yet upon raising his lethal sword, he cannot bring himself to go through with the act, and the cat melts his ronin heart. But before finding peace as a newly minted cat person, the still fearsome Madarame will have to take on both gangs in a classic samurai street brawl.

When I heard the title 'Samurai Cat' I thought that this could be some good cheesy entertainment with a cat kicking some ass. That was however NOT this movie, the cat is just a regular cat, perhaps 'The Samurai and the cat' would be a more fitting title cause there is a Samurai who takes care of the cat.Although the samurai does not kick a lot of ass in the movie either, anyways it's an adoption of a TV series from what I understand, I haven't seen that so I can't common whether or not it's true to the series or whatever. So yeah although it has okay acting (except for the cat who looks very uncomfortable when he supposedly looks peaceful according to the characters) and cute cats it doesn't really make much of an impact. Not really sure who the movie is supposed to be directed towards, it's a little too slow to keep a child's patience I imagine and probably a little too silly for most adults.

A Masterless Samurai Madarame who has fallen on hard times is hired by a gang to kill their rival's beloved pet cat, Tama. Upon accepting the assignment, he finds he cannot kill the cat, and instead brings it home. Backed by some great supporting characters, there are a lot of funny moments in this movie that make you smile that are not overdone. Tween cat-loving girl me would have thought that this movie is fantastic. Mid 30's Mom me now appreciates the history, clothing, and of course, the kitty. Light violence of the samurai sword wielding variety. Adapted from a popular TV series, this is sure to be a winner for date night or family movie night.
