It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

Married Baby

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

This was an excellent travel film. It was made a year before I was born.It shows the beauty of Saltzburg Germany in all it's areas. It's classic old building of the past. It's arts and eateries. This was based on a novel by Eric Kastner, the one who wrote Three in the snow and Emile and the detective and I think the story which would be made at first in 1952, "The Doppler ganger." which Disney would remake as the parent trap.He also wrote the screen play Münchhausen. We see George, played by Paul Hubschid, paying the hotel clerk,.He's been traveling and He's leaving Austria. He's a doctor on several professions. He's taking the bus to cross the border to Germany. The first town ? The beautiful city of Salzburg, where some of the sound of music was shot at.He meets a friend of his up their,a professor I think played by Peter Mosbacher. You now see them eating lunch in a out door café. They then asked this waiter on what places to see in Saltzburg. The waiter is played by the same actor, who played the father of the twins in the 1957 Heimat comedy,"The twins of Zwilight". You then see different perspectives of Saltzberg, like statues, parks ex cetera. The next scene you see is that he's now eating at a restaurant caviar and champagne. His professor friend is eating at an out door restaurant and calls him up because he was suppose to meet him their. The next day He's at another out door café and this time he meets this girl, Konstatine played by Marianne Koch, she's out their to drinking coffee. They start to talk . He wants to know the way to a certain place he wants to see.She agrees to take him to that area. In the mean time you see this out door theater where a bunch of actors are portraying some kind of medieval play about a grim reaper showing up at a dinner party and scaring everyone out of their seats. She finally takes him to the place he wanted to see she agrees to meet him every day to show him more sights. When she leaves him she return to a place she works at with her groceries. She works at a travel and rest type place, almost like an upper class hostel. It's run by her family. Her father, a count played by German character actor stalwart Richard Romanowsky, the head of the house. Her mother is the cook . Her sister is the maid and waitress and her brother is the butler.Their Guest comes from different countries. one of them is an American musician who speaks poor German,Frank Holms an American New York actor who did German films then retired, then made a comeback in America appearing in t.v. shows like the fall guy in the 80's.also an American Family A grown daughter and her parents. The next day he's meets George and they do more sight seeing. They are falling more in love with each other. Then one day they are at a park and he proposes to her.She excepts. He goes to his professor friend and tell him about what he did ,at the outdoor Saltzburg theater as he's watching rehearsals of Don Giovianni. I think the very same theater that was used in the Sound of Music as the Salzburg music festival as the Von Trapp family sang ,"So long Farewell,". Later on she tell him that she's going to the ballet with friends and . He shows up with his friend at the official showing of Don Giovanni. Then it shows her with her brother at the Ballet, choreographed by George Ballachine.Later he's at the hotel and he all of a sudden notices that she's at the gambling table with another man, It's her brother , but he doesn't know this. His friend the professor checks it out.Down and jealous he and his friend go to a bar to get Drunk. They meet the American as he's playing in the band, also drunk. They all three get drunk. The next day he confronts her with the situation the night before. Before he explodes she explains to him that that was his brother. Then she takes him to the guest House and she introduces him to her family.Next they are having a celebration in the kitchen for their happiness , but the guest are demanding services so it breaks up early. Later their guest finally leave. This was a remake of a 1943 film staring Willy Fritsch called ,"Small border Town,"
