Sade Live Trailers

This impressive record of Sade's 1993 live peformances reminds us of just how much her distinctive sound combines languorously emotional pop with lightweight but musically fulfilling cocktail jazz. As fine as the voice is, we can never forget that Sade's backing band are sidemen rather than mere accompanists, and in several of the 18 numbers here we get solos of real virtuosity. The selection of songs includes many of Sade's hits--"Cherry Pie," "Smooth Operator," "Your Love Is King"--and some less well-known songs from the albums, such as "Red Eye" and "Jezebel." --Roz Kaveney, Amazon.co.uk

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

You either DEEPLY LOVE Sade or you're dead inside. I love Sade and her band for what they are Not, almost as much for what they create. They are not shallow, silly trend whores. They are original, subtle, sincere artists and performers that love their craft and really know their strengths. The vibe, the mood, the tone - whatever word you chose - rules their art. If you are aware of the bigger issues and conditions facing our planet then their approach and execution is beyond excellent, deepening my own feelings of sorrowful regret, growing dread, and fragile hope. The Billy Holiday and Janice Joplin imitators and posers can learn worlds from Sade and her alleged limitations. She is extremely gorgeous and elegant, and I would describe her music the same. I saw a live show in Washington, DC in 2001 and, as a musician, was awed at the band's talent and sound, which surpassed their excellently produced CDs. This DVD is a fantastic sample of that experience, even though it's from 1993. There is a newer live DVD of the 2001 tour and it's great, too.

The sound of Sade is something that is hard to put into words... The angelic voice of this beauty is a jazzy organic mix of softness, sultry, peaceful, & calm piece of art. Its very hard to be a critic & try and convince people that a woman just standing on stage with no real costume or set change is worth your time...but it is. You must be a certain kind of person to be taken to the level that me along with Sade's die-hard fans are lifted to. But there is no doubt that anyone who sits through this musical journey is not moved into a state of pure pleasure. 1-10 (9)

Let's be honest here. A pedestrian run-through of her terrific songs, highlighted by the sultry, swiveling movement of her derriere. Let's agree that the woman has no vocal range to speak of, sometimes she can barely be heard. We can also agree that, on the whole, she makes do with her vocal limitations well enough (i.e. passably).I hear she's a nice person off-camera and a respected, no-nonsense businesswoman regarding the record business, and fandom DOES have its place, but not when giving a realistic assessment of a concert video -- an assessment good people may rely on when shelling out hard-earned money for their entertainment.
