It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

This is not for people who typically enjoy the run off the mill Bollywood stuff. This is for people who would like to look deeper, give a thought and enjoy the emotional ride. This is a movie that you got to feel and that can stay with you for a long time! It's not a thriller like it's promoted. It's a love story! It's the conflict the character Kabir goes through at the first feel of love. It's beautiful and painful for him. The movie evolves as the character of Kabir does.I don't want to give away the whole story but would point out certain moments to watch out for.1. A man gifting a book to a woman! How many times we will see it in a Bollywood movie? Kabir gifts a book after the first meeting with Ayesha! Enjoyed that moment.2. There are three heartbreaks in the movie. One is Ayesha's heartbreak when Kabir tells her Tia should move on! What Kabir doesn't realize is the exact statement from his own mouth was gonna cause him heartbreak later on. The other heartbreak is Tia'a but then that's in the movie! What's interesting is although Kabir doesn't want to acknowledge heartbreaks in real life, does recognize Tia's in the story.3. But the best part is Kabir's Dad celebrating the heartbreak of his son. What a poignant moment it was. 4. The movie is also about getting yourself together after a heartbreak. Kabir although slow, does figure out a way out of his hole and emerges successful in the end. Not only for his career creating another hit movie but to face his heart.5. Kabir's relationship with Meera! What a sweetheart Meera is. Kabir is at times rude to her but then it's also evident she is the one whom he trusts. She is like a mother figure to him in the movie.6. Kabir's moments with the dog, show that he has a tender heart. The visuals in the movie are spectacular! Kabir shown sitting alone with a hat on, Roy shooting nowhere in the ocean and a long shot of Kabir/Ayesha's convo when she is doing yoga! Moreover the visual of Ayesha doing a little dance in the beach, in front of Kabir and Kabir appreciating it, something that you don't see in Bollywood really. What a scene it was. The setting on how Kabir writes his stories, his hat, his particulars- like the type writer, his need to have stuff in a certain way like 3 cubes of ice for his drink.. loved the details. The thing is the movie has used a lot of visuals to define Kabir, and Roy his alter ego defines such things too but Ranbir does it all with his demeanor than any props. The movie does have its negatives! It kind of creates suspense but gives away too. If one looks closely, it's obvious that Kabir is shooting with Roy and Tia. But then they have tried to make it confusing too with the police officer investigation etc. The movie should have been either this or that. The music is great but the song chittiya (I love it, but..) doesn't suit the mood of the movie or the character Ayesha. She is not the one who would pester her boyfriend to shopping! Haha! But most other songs are beautifully shot and fit the movie. The background score is commendable.Performance wise, Jaqueline is very pretty. But somewhat miscast. Her dialogue delivery isn't apt. No wonder since she isn't an native speaker. While she is portrayed as someone from London.. a Londoner would speak different too. But the actress is sincere.Ranbir has brought in the depth and enigma to Roy's character. He helps us understand the whole story clearly. He is so subtle and a treat to watch.Arjun has given one of his best performances. He is good showing arrogance as well as vulnerability. His dialogue delivery (Ohh that baritone!!), style and attitude add so much charm to the character.I did at times think Ranbir and Arjun could have exchanged their characters. Arjun as Roy would have brought more charm to the thief and may be Ranbir could bring more melancholy. Either ways I am not complaining. Both actors are in top form.I read Ranbir's interview that it takes courage to make a movie like Roy. I totally agree given the formula driven Indian entertainment! Hence, kudos to the whole team.I am not sure why the movie was marketed in mainstream. May be due to the actors who are mainstream although I would argue otherwise about both Ranbir and Arjun.Supporting actors are all commendable! Anupam Kher, Shenaz, Rajit Kapoor everyone.Nevertheless, Roy is a great movie for those who love fine cinema... and for those who go through emotional battles and win them.. like Kabir does!

I don't understand the low rating of ROY, why do people expect always the same from every movie, why don't they want see something different something extraordinary. I think the low raters of the movie didn't get the full picture of ROY. A movie within a movie. WOW!It kept me engaged till the very last scene of the movie. Two stories coming side by side connected with each other, The Director kept it all along very well! Hats of to Arjun, and Ranbeer. Jacqueline has also done a very well played role in both the situation. I think you should ignore the LOW rating and you should give it a chance if you are a FAN of different movies. I enjoyed it to the very last. And if you are a FAN of regular Indian movies, then this is not for you!

What were they trying to make. People were thinking something exciting will happen till the last moment , I had hope give me something even a single point why this movie has been made, but no it wasted my time my money and moved me to a depressing state. I had to go to a doctor to overcome the depression this movie has done to me. Now I am alright and writing this review as people of Indian cinema should make good movies or stop calling your self creative person, as you have done enough copying, itna cheating to koi exam main bhi nahi karta hai. I read some reviews and people were calling Roy as a classy movie, so i just have one answer go and see real classy movies like Godfather, Shawshank where there happened something in the story.

Guess what, I felt the same way like others when I watched it for the first time. But today all of sudden when my mind required a long stretch from the world this movie helped me to take that leap and I am really released at peace after the last song Boondh-Boondh!!!A while after I started to embrace the director and script writer's imagination to submerge in most of our mood swings and create such a nice piece of work n become a soother.Appreciate your work..Cheerzz.Filler filler fillerFiller filler filler
