Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

... View MoreI have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
... View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
... View MoreThis is another sequel or spoof to the 1965 action drama, The Black Rose. Tony Leung reprises his role as Detective Keith Lui, who partners with Bo Sing Leung (Kenny Bee) to go undercover at an apartment complex watch over high school teacher Pearl Chan (Carina Lau). She is is suspected to be connected to a rare diamond theft involving a notorious thief Mr. Mickey (Simon Yam). Meanwhile, the legendary Black Rose appears and is also in pursuance of Mr. Mickey, wanting him to surrender himself and the diamond in order to clear her name. This movie is not as plot-driven or has much substance as the previous sequel, Black Rose vs. Black Rose. Is mostly a comedy mash with slapstick humor, goofy acting and nonsensical stuff. Tony Leung did fine in his role and Veronica Yip plays a somewhat enduring female lead opposite Leung. However, Kenny Bee acted too artificial and superfluous and Carina Lau was a little annoying. The appearances of the Black Rose (an actual character in the legendary cat burglar costume as opposed to only featuring her apprentices in the previous movie and her nemesis the White Rose were an interesting touch to the story and is the most intriguing aspect of the movie. The action scenes were OK - could have used more, though.Overall, it's not a great movie, but it has its interesting moments. It's not entirely boring - just childish at times.Grade C+
