All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Two veteran New York City detectives work on a case of serial executions of criminals who escaped justice. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are terrific talented actors unfortunately this movie isn't it's boring and uses violence in order to do something the same director of this movie also directed 88 Minutes a film starring Pacino again and although it wasn't perfect at least i had fun with it but this one? Not even close the whole ending ruined the movie for me showing who was the killer and it was just laughable i would advice you to skip this and just see something else Heat or Godfather Part II but this one? Not even close they basically ruined 2 great actors with this one..

I started my collegiate career in Criminal Justice at the University of Houston Downtown. I thought I could help my community. I thought I would work with others who "care". I wanted to make a difference. This movie hit me in places in my soul that I forgot existed. A young woman with stars in her eyes and a heart to care for others more than she did for her own life and safety. A girl who would give up her life to make a better world for others. During classes, I saw that those others would kill cops like me without a second thought. In fact, it was cops exactly like me who ended up dead by those they were seeking to help. The long term prognosis for being a cop never turns out okay. At the end of the career, after the watch has been given...you go off to what? Coffee and newspapers at the local IHOP where Marjorie brings you your eggs. Then you go home and what? Be alone...go to sleep alone, watch TV alone, eat dinner alone and try not to remember what you saw over your career. Well, yes, if you are lucky.Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro...they are some kind of actors...actors who tell the stories written by writers about people most of us will never know. People living their lives each moment the best they can. This movie shows how incredibly complex this life is...Makes me wonder about the cop sitting across from me at Starbuck's...he doesn't know that we may have seen the same documentaries about the vocation. He went on to put on the badge, I went on to process debits and credits. I am posting to general ledger and he processes perpetrators on a daily basis. This is another aspect of this movie...when you are judgmental you always make the wrong call. What is reality? What decision is the best decision? How to you make the best decision when you have seconds to decide? How do you judge on the street, all hours of the morning to prevent crime of just take a report of the crime in the after math? Can you stop a train from going off the tracks when that train is YOU? It's torture but it is a fabulous, fabulous movie. Thank you to Robert DeNiro, 50 Cent, and Al Pacino along with every single person who helped to make this movie a reality. I applaud you. You made me remember an aspect of me that I forgot ever existed; Poets are dangerous. Well Done.

Turk (Robert De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) are aging police detective partners. They are after a smart drug dealer Spider (50 Cent). Also somebody is killing the criminal class. Other police detectives are played by Carla Gugino, John Leguizamo, Brian Dennehy, and Donnie Wahlberg. While it's great to see such superior actors chew up the dialog, I wish that they had better material to use. There are flash forwards that are either annoyingly on the nose, or bad obvious redirection. Either way it is unnecessary. The movie is better off without the distraction. The style has a bit of cheese, but mostly a TV police drama feel. It's not a strong suit. These actors deserve better. It just doesn't have any big cinematic visuals. The action isn't there, and there is no energy. It's obvious what the movie is trying to do. While it isn't actually cheating, it does make me feel manipulated. It's like a magician who's too obvious with a trick. It leaves me feeling underwhelmed.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are arguably the two greatest actors of their generation, so when they get together to do any scene there tends to be magic in the air. "Heat" was everything you could want from this collaboration and more, it gave these two acting powerhouses the podium they deserved because it had so much more going for it than just the acting. "Righteous Kill" on the other hand, it just sorta glides by without really capturing much of your interest throughout. Its two aging detectives trying to locate a serial killer (but maybe it's one of them?) while talking in occasionally witty one-liners, there's not much more to it than that. The leads sell it quite well, but they really have to drag this one out of the swamp. Their co-stars are just boring, the story seemed predictable to me (some say it's full of surprises, more power to them) and the blandly dark cinematography doesn't leave much room for putting anyone in the spotlights, but as I said, you can't make a bad movie when you have Pacino and De Niro at your disposal. It's just weird to me that they chose this project particularly, there must be so many better scripts laying around for the both of them. But oh well, before they start doing those I guess "Righteous Kill" is a pretty good time-waster.
