I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

While this may not be one of my favorite performances by De Niro and Pacino, it is still worth the watch. It is reminiscent of Pacino's role as Serpico (1973) and of any number of current TV crime dramas. Robert De Niro (Turk), Al Pacino (Rooster), Brian Dennehy (Lt. Hingis), Donnie Walberg (Det. Riley), and 50 Cent (Spider) are among the cast of characters. If you're a mystery fan you will have guessed the "whodunit," within the first 15 minutes of this film. Just be sure not to leave the room thinking you'll be able to catch up with the plot when you return. You may be able to guess the "who" early on, but it may take a while to figure out the "why."

Big disappointment. I can not say that this movie is bad cause it is not, but it is definitely inappropriate for such legends as Pacino and De Niro. Story is OK and nothing more than OK. Idea is unoriginal, twist is predictable, there is no tension. I wasn't bored, but I could stop watching at any point without feeling of incompleteness and wondering how it ends. Beside that, however big they are, some roles are inappropriate to Pacino and De Niro age. Same as we would not take 15 year old girl to act someone's grandma, it is completely unconvincing when two 70 years old grandpas act active street cops, run around, jump fences, get into fights and such, while one of them has relationship with twice younger colleague. Unconvincing and stops audience to get connected with the story. Cops that age are already retired and even those near retirement don't do what this two guys do in this movie. Lousy...7/10 is too much, but, again, it's Pacino and De Niro, their performance always deserve higher rating.

Righteous Kill (2008): Dir: Jon Avnet / Cast: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Carla Gugino, Curtis Jackson, Donnie Wahlberg: Here is a thriller that brings together two of the biggest icons of their generation. This is perhaps the first time since The Godfather, Part 2 that we had these two actors in the same film. Film asks questions regarding justice. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino play veteran cops out to solve a string of crimes, each involving the slaying of vicious criminals. Clever plot that details the slayings as oppose to falling into repetition. Third act presents an interesting plot twist that thankfully doesn't act on revenge. De Niro and Pacino are very good together in roles that are not what they seem. Carla Gugino plays an investigator whom loves sadomasochistic sex. Unfortunately the role isn't that broad and plays more as a sex tease than a personality. Curtis Jackson plays a drug lord in what shouldn't be a surprise. Jackson does what he can with what is nothing more than a standard role of little interest. Donnie Wahlberg is also featured as another detective. Directed by Jon Avnet with a flair of paranoia. Avnet previously directed Pacino in the underrated 88 Minutes as well as the pathetic Up Close and Personal, which is a film that should be buried under a ton of rock. Despite its message, the film seems primed for two respected actors in an average yet entertaining thriller. Score: 8 / 10

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Carla Gugino, John Leguizamo, Donnie Wahlberg and Brian Dennehy star in this 2008 crime thriller. This focuses on New York veteran cops, Turk (De Niro) and his partner, Rooster (Pacino) who pursue a serial killer who leaves poems on each of his victims who have committed crimes. Leguizamo (Spawn) and Wahlberg (Saw II) play cops, Perez and Riley who suspect that the killer could be a cop. Soon, the evidence points to Turk who knows the victims and it could be him or someone else revealed to be the killer. Dennehy (Cocoon) plays Hingis and Gugino (Sin City) plays Karen who is Turk's girlfriend. This isn't as good as "Heat," but not bad and it's nice to see De Niro and Pacino together again. I recommend this.
