If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

I'm not a fan of modern country. I am more of a George Jones, Ray Price, Eddy Arnold kind of guy. I thought I would give this a shot because it sounded like a really good story.Certainly, the song "When Did You Stop Loving Me?" was the type of song I like. The King of Broken Hearts was magnificent, as was I Cross My Heart.George Strait can definitely act, and Isabel Glasser was someone I want to see more of.Sure, it was a little sappy, but the message was clear. Sometimes you have to go back to your roots and find out who you really are.

Did I like this movie?Let's see...some country dude quits singing in the middle of his set and no one notices. He doesn't like that so he goes for a walk, then decides to hitch a ride with a truck driver and splits (oh yeah, they switched boots too...how lucky is that? they both wore the same size). The next night being without their star, they pull some stage hand and he does the entire show and no one even notices. I have never been to a country show but I have been to many many rock concerts and believe me, if the band quits playing or hires someone else to pretend to be them, we would notice lol.Back to our country star...he stops and visits his granny and hitches into town (a very small town) where even tho he grew up there, no one knows him except the bartender (and what does that say about country music?).Now the film dives into complete idiocy.Day 1: Bad concert gone wrong. Day 2: Bad drunk gone wrong. Day 3: Dusty learns to rope a cow. Day 4: Bad date gone wrong. Day 5: Two people deeply in love (what??) split apart and both head to Vegas. Day 6: They meet up in Vegas, apology gone wrong, barrel race gone right. Day 7: She finds out he is a rich successful country star and it's all right now in their world. The EndDid I like it? Movie gone deeply wrong.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was on TV about a month ago, and my boyfriend who LOVES George Strait wanted to watch it. I was less-than-enthusiastic, but I decided to watch it anyway. I'm glad I did, because I fell in love with this film. It's a very sweet and innocent movie. The plot is simple -- a country music star is tired of the image he has and wants to only perform his music and not put on a "light show." So he leaves the tour and tries to find himself. :) In doing so, he falls in love and the tour goes to Hell. The resolution is great, and the final song is one of my favorites.I recommend this movie to everyone, regardless of whether or not you are a country fan.

I've always hated country music until I saw Pure Country (1992),I even went out and bought the sound track. One Night The Lord put a song in my heart about 4:am and I wrote my own Country Song and would like anyone else but George to sing it. It is guaranteed to be a chart buster even with me singing it.(LMAO) So George if you read this contact me, I've song it several time in the Public and other non-Country Music Lovers loved it.Even with me not being able to carry a note. I would give this entire Album a thumbs up and Movie 10 fingers and 10 toes up. Still today I watch it at least once a month, this is not bad for a person never listens to country music , in fact the sound track is the only Country CD I have in my entire Collection and I have thousands, so this really says a lot about this project. I am really looking forward to Part II, if their is to be one, People everywhere want to know what happened after the show in Las Vegas. So George do us all a favor and do a Part II, for your fans.An Old But new fan of Country
