I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

I got a bluray with deleted scenes and commentary that brought to light one thing. This was a film, with a point and effective character arcs, core emotional beats that were gutted because of (mostly) "time" and "mystery"The final film is a fast paced mess of confused motivations and confused payoffs. And because the movie needs to constantly keep going nothing is given space to breath. I dont know how these characters feel, everything feels artificial; The conflicts, the desisions, the very deep topic... Turned into a flatline. Keeping a fast pace is important in a scifi action film today, i get it, but when u remove emotional beats to replace them with action i might as well look at a kid tell me a story with action figures. I have no reason to care when the movie finds it unnecesary. Mystery is nice, its captivating stuff what happens here, and maybe Ridley Scott wanted to make the audience feel that mystery over multiple films. But without characters that we clearly emotionally understand and empathise with, how can i be invested in this?I am in absolute shock and frustration over this desision to remove story elements from a story. Ridley scott is an old dumbass or they kept it in the editing room too long to the point it fried their brain. Watching the same movie over and over again until all he wanted was for it to be shorter. Siigh..Great shots though this film looks beautiful.

Stunning visual effects seamlessly extend the practical into the digital realm. It becomes impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins. The search for mankind's creators leads to much more thought-provoking storytelling than previous Alien entries contained. The violence and gore is about what you'd expect from a big-budget tentpole. It never reaches for obscure indie goregasms, but Prometheus definitely earns its R-rating.

This film has much to recommend it for. Visually excellent, as is to be expected. The film nicely fleshes out some elements left obscure from the beginning of the Alien saga, and adds a new direction and dimension of urgency, the "Creators". It feels fresh by not merely adding complications to the end of the saga, as a sequel might, and has done in Resurrection. That said, the film has serious problems. The characters are mostly unconvincing and out of place. The crew of scientists chosen for this important and ambitious mission seem to be far from the cream of the crop, rather like a bunch of immature, irresponsible bungling idiots with behavioral problems. Other crew also show a relaxed attitude to the mission that seems out of place. The plot is somewhat ludicrous. The crew recklessly, repeatedly and consistently ignore the very obvious signs of biohazard, in a rushed approach that is driven by no apparent reason or urgency. What should be serious characters repeatedly skirt discussion of their situation, and rather wander blindly - repeatedly at that - into a threatening situation. Contrast that with the first Alien film, where a crew that should be of a considerably lower caliber carefully appraise their situation before acting. Elizabeth's feats in her medical condition seem unlikely, to say the least. Some characters have problems with motivation, especially David, although that might be resolved in a sequel. Nevertheless, a film worthy of repeated viewing - use local anesthesia for the problematic parts.

Prometheus breathes new life into a series that has been laying dormant for a long while. While by no means a perfect film, what Prometheus brings is a new aspect rather than the usual horror supplied by previous Alien films. A new approach and plot lines rather than the frequently used 'survive' goal of the usual rag-tag group. Visually, Prometheus is beautiful to see, the usual Ridley Scott visual masterpiece is supported by the Hollywood weight of Fassbender and Idris Elba in strong roles. However the film is not without issue, some small but niggly plot holes and some perculiar story progression at points can lead to confusion or possibly irritation at flaws. Overall Prometheus is a strong piece of cinema. Weaving science fantasy with horror and development of a horror icon. A good step as a prequel, leaving a lot of tantalising doors open for the next film to explore.
