Phillip Filmore is a naive, 15-year-old, preoccupied with sex, who develops a crush on Nicole Mallow, the new 30-something, French housekeeper and sitter to look after him when Phillip's father is out of town for the summer on a "business" trip. But Mr. Filmore's unscrupulous chauffeur, Lester Lewis, takes advantage of Phillip's crush on Nicole to hire her to seduce the youth, then draws her into a plot to fake her own death in a blackmail scheme aimed to drain Phillip's trust fund.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

15 year old Phillip Filmore and his friend are curious about sex. His father is away for 3 weeks with "business". Lester Lewis (Howard Hesseman) is the disgruntled family chauffeur. He brings in French housekeeper Nicole Mallow (Sylvia Kristel) to seduce Philly. Then the boy is trapped in a blackmail scheme after she fakes her death. Ed Begley Jr. has a small role as tennis pro Jack Travis. This is every teen boy's fantasy and definitely pedophilely. Young Eric Brown is with naked Kristel in many scenes. It's indefensible but hormone-filled boys cannot get enough of this movie. The story is actually compelling and the acting is surprisingly competent. The kid is good and there are real actors in this thing. It's soft-core porn for teen boys. This and Porky's are the best of its genre at the time.

This movie, without a doubt, displays any male teenager's fantasy in all aspects. The movie is like the aunt of soft core flicks like "Friend of the Family II", "Scorned", "Scorned II", etc. "Private Lessons" is a classic genre definer that is still very popular for many reasons. The plot is very sexy, steamy but best of all, interesting and dramatic at some points. I remember getting really angry when Sylvia's character fake's her death "after" sex. The rest of the plot deals with betrayal and economic interests. The acting is top notch and very sexy specially by Mrs. Kristel. The production values are very good and make it look like a big budget production instead of a porn effort. The sex is the best aspect of this movie and believe me, it's the reason for you to watch it. You'll get aroused JUST by the idea of a young boy getting seduced by a mature sexual active woman. It's like, Heaven. Seriously, this is a genre definer and one of the best of it's kind.

Ten years ago, there was "Summer of '42". "Private Lessons" is like sex education of the 20th Century. A young boy named Philip Fillmore(Eric Brown, before "Mama's Family") is curious about one thing: SEX! Every teenage boy is going to get curious about it. So during a graduation party, he and his buddy, Sherman(Patrick Piccininni) spy on a young woman undressing. Busted by their lovely teacher, Miss Phipps(Meredith Baer). Instead of punishing him, she gives him a chance to find out over the summer. So when he goes to his father's house, he meets a maid(Syliva Kristel) from Europe who gives him a lesson in sex he'll never forget. She lures him into her room, undresses right in front of him one article of clothing at a time. Some boys would scream and take off at this moment. Tells his buddy, doesn't buy it. It's true! Unbeknownst to him, that his father's chauffeur(Howard Hessman) is after his money. So he and Nicole Mallow(The seductive maid) feign a crime. She later wants out, and help Phillip instead. The summer adventure couldn't have been better for Phillip. The crime wasn't a big deal, the experience he had will last for a lifetime! Summer of '42 was very mild, Private Lessons was very provocative. Both are good! 5 stars!!

One of the those "coming of age" films that should have nostalgia for adults and promise for the kids. This movie has neither. It is a poor excuse to let Sylvia Kristel's body double frolic with a dorky Eric Brown. To make matters worse, the movie is either silly or stupid when it tries to be funny, sexy, or dramatic. Laugh awkwardly as we are supposed to believe that a teenager would go alone with burying a dead woman in his front yard. Ponder vigorously on why a woman famous for Emmanuelle needs a body double. As the movie went on and on, I started to imagine a hybrid of Private Lessons and Little Miss Millions that had Sylvia Kristel seduce Jennifer Love Hewitt as Howard Hesseman makes us nostalgic for WKRP. Watch this to laugh at other people's stupidity, or for Ed Begley Jr.'s committed performance, or to wonder what Sylvia Kristel would look like with Jennifer Love Hewitt. But I can give you an idea of your lesson, stay away from movies staring Sylvia Kristel that are not Emmanuelle.
