Well Deserved Praise

... View MoreIt’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
... View MoreThe movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
... View MoreI am wondering why this movie is under rated compared to poster boys. I personally find this movie better than previous version in terms of plot, characters, comedy and topics it deals with. This movie is full too dhamaal comedy with twist and turns. Handles multiple issues in Indian society like girl child abortions, youth's losing interest in farming, castism and women social status in our rural and urban areas.Script is very well written by Hemant Dhome and equally well directed by Sameer Patil. Important thing is it doesn't feel like anything dragged forcefully into the play just to handle multiple social topics to convey the social messages. Everything goes with the flow and feels situational. This movie is primarily targeted to adults mostly because of topics it deals with.. I loved the movie as it is quite refreshing, equally divided content between comedy and some emotionally intense scenes like "Bajya" holding onto his farm when it suddenly starts raining heavily which could lead to destruction of his hard sowed & nurtured crop.Do watch this movie once! I am sure you will like it and won't regret investing your 02 hours and 20 minutes time over weekend. :)
... View MoreReview By : MarathiCineyug.comViacom 18 Motion Pictures presented 'Poshter Girl' is a laugh riot with a message. Though it gives couple of important social messages, director does ensure it is entertaining. Audiences are thoroughly entertained in a typical rural Maharashtrian setup of story.Female foeticide and Agriculture are the 2 subjects around which the story is neatly woven by writer and screenwriter Hemant Dhome. He has ensured that the movie is presented in a light and comic way, without losing the message.Story: Pargaon Tekawade is a small village in western Maharashtra, where there are no girls. The girls are either terminated or the wife and daughter are sent to their mother's village. Because of this you find only boys and these all boys are without marriage and wife.In such a village Rupali Thorat (Sonalee Kulkarni) comes to live with her uncle Kisanrao (Hrishikesh Joshi). Now all the boys start to woe her with gifts to marry her. She is an educated girl who loves farming and want to become an agriculture officer. She short- lists 5 men, Bharatrao Zende (Jitendra Joshi), Bajrang Dudhbhat (Aniket Vishwasrao), Arjun Kalal (Siddharth Menon) and twins Suresh & Ramesh (Sandeep Pathak, Akshay Tanksale), to take up a challenge, so that the best can win her in marriage. What happens next is the laugh riot and even challenges you to think about the social subjects.Acting: There are many characters in this movie and all the characters are well crafted and have their own trends. Each actor plays there part very well. Jitendra Joshi plays the vice Sarpanch with aplomb. Hrishikesh Joshi's uncle is well sketched. Sandeep Pathak, Aniket, Siddharth, Akshay does their roles very well. The plus point here is Sonalee Kulkarni, who has created the confident city girl who loves her roots and village, very naturally. She plays a completely different character than her earlier movies. Seems after Shutter, she is inclined more towards serious roles. 'Poshter Girl' could be a turning point in her acting career.Technical: The story and screenplay is the hero of this movie. All credit goes to Hemant Dhome for developing such a master-piece. Director Sameer Patil presents the movie ensuring there are no dull moments and the pace of the movie is maintained throughout. Dialogues are witty in typical Western Maharashtrian dialect.Music and background score by Amitraj are good and all the 4 songs are entertaining. Special mention to 'DJ Song' and 'Lavani Song'. Pushpank Gawade's Cinematography is excellent. Editing by Kshitija Khandagale could have been better, especially during scene changes, there could have been fillers.Overall: 'Poshter Girl' is a perfect comic entertainer with social message. Each character is well crafted by writer and director. For Sonalee, this is going to be a mile-stone movie, as she is the hero of 'Poshter Girl'. Go watch this one for the sheer entertainment.Rating: 4 / 5Movie: Poshter Girl Director: Sameer Patil Producer: Hadi Ali Abrar and Pushpank Gawade Studios: Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Chalo Film Banaye Cast: Sonalee Kulkarni, Jitendra Joshi, Aniket Vishwasrao, Siddharth Menon, Hemant Dhome, Sandeep Pathak, Akshay Tanksale and Hrishikesh Joshi.
