All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

You may not know him by name, but chances are you will recognize the star of this film, John Doe, who's been grazing major Hollywood productions on film and television in supporting roles going back to his part as rocker Jerry Lee Lewis's cousin-turned-father-in-law in '89's "Great Balls of Fire". In this good little indie flick, he takes the starring role. Haven been front man for the group "X", he uses his musical talent to fuel this character, also participating in the music for the film. And O-M-G!- that sexy voice kept sticking out at me, and I noticed her name in the cast, but it took me til the end of the film to realize THAT is Aimee Mann, of the '80s group Til Tuesday! The only other thing I can ever think of her acting in was that little part as that nihilist who contributes her toe in "The Big Lebowski"..?? LOLWell, anyway, I enjoyed the performances, and the music- and the philosophy and collaborative effort that goes into creating a studio recording. The one scene says it best- when Mann says to Doe something like- you enjoy this part the best (time in the studio creating the project, rather than the finished project itself...).
