The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan - three of the finest actors of our times come together for a movie that is so heart-warming and refreshing with an unusual simplicity. This is not one of the ubiquitous action thrillers, brainy or corny movies that creates wonders at the box office. 'Piku' is a simple yet hilarious and take on the bowel problems that come with old-age.Focusing on the unusual topic of constipation, the story is a fulfilling one with its heart in the right place. Shoojit Sircar helms the movie with astonishing brilliance, a story which otherwise is nearly impossible to even think of bringing on screen. The music of the movie is surreal and transports you to the purity of the streets of Kolkata. A noteworthy fact about the movie is that it is not stuffed with unnecessary dance sequences and melodrama. It is the story of a parent and his child, narrated in the simplest of ways, which is why it is very relatable.

First thing that came into my mind was Paa since I've known this movie. Everywhere there were some comparisons made regarding the plot and Amitabh's acting. But somewhere it was known that from a different director, this should be different. Fortunately it was distinct in all possible good ways. Plot was very simple, but at the same time it was intelligent. There were no pieces left in maneuvering the movie and each part was brilliantly taken care of. Certainly very nicely and cutely executed story. There were nice dialogues, enriching movie flow but after the first half, only thing that bothered was the motive behind the movie. In the end it was found out that there was not much motive but the journey itself was the crux of the movie. On top of it, the ending was icing on the cake that was certainly delicious.Amitabh Bachchan. Ohh I'm sorry, SIR AMITABH BACHCHAN. I know it doesn't matter but when Sir will be used in maggy reviews, it will refer to only this amazing actor. Sir's acting yet again made me fell in love with him. The way the character was caught and the way each and every dialogue and movement was performed was remarkable. Sir took the meaning of "Giving life to character" to a different level. To a level that only by seeing the character's clothes, you can imagine sir and the whole story of the movie. Not to forget Irrfan and Deepika who amazingly supported throughout. Irrfan had his share of amazing performance and unquestionably was bang on all through.Shoojit yet again proved that he can deliver different, strong and entertaining movies every time. After Vicky Donor, expectations will always be high from him and he has stood out proudly this time. I'll give him full credit of making the overall movie fascinating. Certainly one of the best directed movie in recent times. Background score was not used much but was very charming whenever used.Overall, a wonderfully directed amazing journey of a man where the Man kills it yet again.

The film never gets distracted from its central subject which is Bhashkor Banerjee's stomach just like the Banerjee family never gets time to discuss anything else. The film is a joyride for the whole of 2 hours and 5 odd minutes. It makes you laugh out loud for phases lasting from few minutes to tens of minutes, only to slice new layers of sensitivity in the next few. Even though the span of the film is a few days, Sircar so skilfully is able to show us the deeper traits of all the characters that you begin to relate with each one of them. There are hardly any weaknesses in the film, but the strongest of strengths is the realness of the film. There are quite a few slice of life films that Bollywood has been able to create in last few years, none is as natural as this.At 70, Amitabh Bachchan is still at the top of his game. If you have ever been a big Bachchan Saab fan and have not got the best of him lately, this is going to be your dope. His comic timing will put all comedians of today put together to shame. The way he has played the part of an over anxious, ageing and well-meaning Bengali is only something that he could have done and no one else. Needless to say the reason why Irrfan Khan is who he is today is his natural dialogue delivery and he does it again. Every time he delivers a dialogue or even when he communicates in silence, it becomes a treat to watch.

I didn't understood why everyone liked this movie. The movie is all about Selfish Father and his daughter. Amitabh always says to his daughter "I given you freedom, I never forced you." But he always forces his daughter. He never allows his daughter to be free and enjoy her life. Always disgusting. When she is trying to talk with someone in the party, He enters in middle and said "She is not virgin, She is moody like me. She is not nice girl." He doesn't want his daughter mingling with any other guy. How can a father being so selfish that his daughter should live for him, not for her. He keep on emotional blackmailing if he doesn't get things in his way. I love to be a father for a girl. I don't want to be a father like him. Selfish, judgmental, irritating, Not giving freedom to girl, emotionally blackmailing etc.,I am giving 2 stars for Irfan khan's words in taxi. "What satisfaction your parents will get by blackmailing kids emotionally." and Amitabh's logic "Marriage is for people of low IQ. Why should Girl serve his husband rather than living her own life?"
