I know I've said it before, but this is another of my MFF (Most Favorite Films!) For years I've tried to find a DVD copy of it, but none has ever been available. It's the first film in which I saw Raul Julia and Maury Chaykin, and I've collected their films ever since. It's also my first viewing of Gary Farmer, who later appeared in "Ed and His Dead Mother". "Overdrawn" is quite psychedelic. The "Casablanca" sequences are very well done.Good luck on finding a copy of this one.I'm glad I have one.

I loved the movie and wish I could find it on DVD or even VHS. It's not meant to be a "serious" SF movie, but, like a lot of the SF stories out there, it's a social commentary. Even today (2008), there are still people who are afraid of what computers can do and what we'll eventually let them turn us into. I like the idea of them using Casablanca as part of the movie. We all have a bit of "Rick Blaine" in us, I think. Too afraid to rock the boat, but once we get to the limit of our fear, we don't care about being afraid any more and "do the right thing". The same could be said of the characters in Overdrawn. I'd love to have my kids watch this movie. It's a hoot.

From the very start, this movie attempts to be some perverse remake of Casablanca if it was written by George Orwell and directed by the Wachowski brothers' retarded nephew. Attempts, but fails. What we end up with is special effects that remind you of "Land of the Lost" and a distant future that looks like a small shopping mall in Japan from the early 70's. This movie does deserve credit for one thing: they managed to make the big fat evil white guy in this movie was even less likable than the big fat evil white guy in the real Casablanca.Of course there are plenty of worse movies. This one actually has some fun points, and the late Raul Julia (RIP) gave an incredible performance. Overdrawn is funny enough on its own that you can watch it without MST3K and/or friends, but if you have either of those it's a whole lot more fun. Worth seeing at least once, even sporting a T-shirt that reads "I survived Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" if you're so inclined, and nobody should miss RJ's Bogart.

A muddled story of computer programmer Aram Fingal (Raul Julia) who works for vicious corporation Novicorp. They transfer his mind to that of a baboon (a good metaphor for the whole movie), and from there, Aram gets caught in the computer and creates his own world, in which he gets to be Rick from "Casablanca". One of his co-programmers (Linda Griffiths) tries to help him get back into the real world. It's little more than a "Tron" ripoff. Trying too hard to be funny, the whole thing ends up idiotic. Granted, the movie wasn't a total waste: "MST3K" did a great job ripping it apart. What is really hard to believe is that Raul Julia starred in "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" the same year that he starred in "Kiss of the Spider Woman"!
