Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

I absolutely loved this episode & the story lines. I'm a great fan of Sci-Fi and, sadly, there are no great, not even good, shows in this genre at present. I'd think with the millions of Sci-Fi fans, more shows would be on or in production. This was one with great story, good, solid actors and has/had much promise.Other than Westworld (which I really don't consider "Sci-Fi"),there aren't any others out and Westworld's popularly should be an example of people wanting something less vanilla. I think had Amazon shot a full season instead of just a pilot, they would have realized just how many people are drawn to & love these type shows. Out of the box is risky, but I'd think it would have a better pay off than just another random vanilla series we're now overwhelmed with. Hopefully, it's not buried.

Not a review but a wish. I really enjoyed the pilot. The acting is amazing, the plot, there is nothing to complain about, attention is not lost and is maintained throughout the episode. It really entertains, which is the main purpose of it. I am totally caught up in the story. I really hope Amazon continues with it. Please give us more. Make it possible.

Perhaps one of the most underwhelming pilots I have ever seen. Ridiculously shoddy writing meets horridly incompetent and inexperienced direction in this season premier for Amazon Video. I mean, most of the characters are incredibly stock and stereotypical, whose stockness and stereotypicalness are in fact only outdone by the paper thing plot which draws on a plethora of other, superior material. It's just very unengaging, not compelling in the least, and failed to interest on anything more than a superficial level, if even that. The acting is passable but ill fitted to the clichéd and uncreative story which isn't helped by the most clichéd and uncreative visuals. Every scene past is peppered with anti-fun tropes and a poor script makes even the scenes most essential to the plot hard to watch. With that said, the lead is not unlikable and I thought his religion could be something new and fresh, although judging by this first episodes quality I highly doubt it.

The pilot was awesome. The main character, a cleric, is refreshingly different, somehow distant yet very present. So, not a typical hero figure. The play with light, shadows and darkness is a nice touch, so the world is not so bright as Star Trek for example, but yet not so dark as the alien. Sound effects and score are better than most. The counter-setting with religion and science is interesting. Oasis is one of the better sci-fi titles out there. Hoping to see more.
