A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

This is one of the the scariest movies of all time. The original Night of the living dead from 1968 is very scary. This is scarier. 6.9 is underrating it. This movie has a great story line. It also has great acting. It also has great special effects. This about people trapped in an old from house in a zombie outbreak. This is one of the scariest movies you will ever see. Tony Todd is a great actor. Patrircia Tallman is a great actress. The acting in this movie is better then the acting in the original. Tom Savini is a great film maker. This movie is a must see. I need more lines. And I am running out of things to say. Great movie. See it.

The original is a classic as it is the first or one of the first to portray zombies as we know them today, dead humans coming back to life hunting for the flesh of the living. What me always bothered about the original is the characters are not given much background. Here we get to know a bit more about backgrounds and the relations between the characters and that the young couple was actually related to the inhabitants of the house where the group is hiding. Another thing is that in the original Barbara is a vegetable for most of the movie which really got annoying. The remake makes her at least fight maybe a bit too much. I thought her changing into a GI Jane (as if she served in the army) was a bit too radical given I always pictured her as a feminine woman not the tomboy she was here. I prefer the ending of the remake even though still feel sad for Ben but the ending for Mr Cooper was well deserved I think (couldn't help to cheer there) as he was even nastier than in the original. What I miss mostly about this remake that the original got is the creepy atmosphere. I guess the original being in black and white sure helped a lot there as color in my opinion takes away some of that in my opinion. I would say I like both versions equal but I prefer the later Dawn and Day of the Dead (original versions).

If you ask me - I don't believe that George Romero could've taken more than, say, 2 minutes to write the screenplay for this atrociously awful, scene-for-scene, remake of his original, 1968 version of "The Living Dead".And, with that said, I think that little, giggling George so rightly deserves a good, swift kick in the ass for his unwelcome involvement in this utterly dead-end production. With this entire dumb-ass film being completely inferior and anti-climatic to the original (in every way imaginable), the one word that I think sums up 1990's "The Living Dead", in a nutshell, would be the word "embarrassment" - 'Cause, believe me, that's all that it was from start to finish. (And, nope, I'm sorry, but more graphic gore didn't make this film better) And, finally - While the original, 1968 "Living Dead" was made on a $114,000 budget, this remake cost $4.2 million in all. That rounds off to this remake costing about 37x more than what the original did and yet its total mediocrity (on all levels) rendered it as being nothing but a putrid heap of horror-movie excrement, in the long run.Tom Savini should be banned, outright, from ever directing movies, regardless of their genre. He clearly doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

Its a remake of the classic Zombie movie that we all know and love, and after seeing it again, I was thinking 'yes, the makeup is very good, but what exactly is the point of all this?'.....So the story goes that a Molly Ringwald lookalike and Bill Mosely are attacked by the living dead (in the day, may I add), Bill gets it, and Molly ends up finding refuge in a nearby house. Not long after, Candyman of all people arrives, and soon the film goes down the house invasion way, with added guests. Soon, the middle class family finding refuge, become the monsters, and all subliminal messages about ethnicity, race, and racial tension arise, whilst all the while, Tom Savini's wonderful creations pop through windows and doors....It's all very well with the great effects, and the competent acting, but when all is said and done, its a pretty pointless affair, just like the remake of Psycho, it's not a bad film by any means, just very pointless. But, this is a film that's been remade a fair few times, and they are worth seeing just to see how they mess it up each time.So all in all, great make up, good performances, but it's like a broken pencil.Pointless.....
