The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

This is an interesting movie and will appeal to Philip K Dick and Blade Runner fans. Possibly. Out of curiosity, if nothing more. It's sort of based more on Blade Runner than the book on which that was based - Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep - and it's more a follow-on than a retelling. Cyborgs (Replicants), Blade Runners (MPs), limited life spans and attempts to counteract it. You get the idea.Fans will be thinking Great! But it's nowhere near the same calibre as Blade Runner. It's confusing, poorly-paced and substitutes action sequences for moments of tension. One highlight - which is probably not much of a highlight, really but which I enjoyed - is the music at 1:30 which just shouts Ennio Morricone. It fits the scene beautifully. The movie has much to recommend it it but ultimately falls short as a "Blade Runner" or "Sheep" adaptation or follow-on. However, fans of either owe it to themselves to watch it and make up their own minds.Just beware of the OTT reviews written by viewers who have little or no knowledge of its sources, or who still (can you believe it?) think gloss, sparks and action is all you need.

Think "Bladerunner" set in a Korean setting, then you fairly much have the essence of "Natural City". However, "Natural City" doesn't just quite reach up to the same level of entertainment. The story in "Natural City" turned out to be a bit jumpy and skittish, forcing you to pay close attention to the storyline at all times. And even then, it just didn't do much justice to the movie that the story trotted along at a fairly slow pace, making it lose its power of impact along the way - sort of think a balloon that is losing its air. The movie started out great, but quickly turned into a mish-mash storyline that just spiraled downward story-wise.As for the scenery, CGI and action, well it was all top notch, and it is almost just worth sitting through the movie to watch this, because they really went all out here, putting together a very believable universe that is vibrant, detailed and very realistic. However, it was weighed down by a less than interesting storyline. For a Korean action Sci-Fi movie, then "Natural City" turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment in my opinion, and there are far better and more enjoyable Korean movies out there.

Romantic sci-fi noir. If you like "Chobits", "Ghost in the Shell" and "Equilibrium" this film is for you. Anime is the closest genre. Some parts (mostly fight scenes) are predictable, boring, very cheap and don't deserve more than 5 points. But others are full of incomprehensible intentions and feelings worth experiencing. Not sure if there is English audio version somewhere, so subtitles might also be a little bit distracting.Tranquility. Love. Darkness. Rain. Sadness. Despair. Madness. Valor. Honor. Blood. Hope. That what you see and feel watching it.Beautiful girls and romantic music.Hard emotional imprint.

Having been a long time fan of Asian films within multiple genre, I found this title to be a great example of Korean sci-fi perspective finely wrought. Though some might focus on flaws in minute detail, this reviewer is rating this film on a comparative basis. No need to list other K-movie titles here as that would detract from my intent. Suffice to say that many lesser craft were floated in the sea of Korean science fiction films.I read reviews here comparing this to the fine Phillip K. Dick adaptation titled "Bladerunner" and agree there are many parallel themes. Given current global trends, this reviewer feels that Natural City is a natural expansion on the ideas incorporated in the original fiction story.Well produced with an eye for detail by both director(s) and editors, as well as seemingly terse but at times poignant acting, this is a title well worth a second look.I read someone here say the acting was wooden. Hmmmm. Perhaps that poster does not understand Asian demeanor nor the intent of the director to display the dislocated environment within which these characters live. Science-Fiction is extrapolation. No less and no more. If one expects ideas and human elements combined with adequate acting and direction, then this product will entertain.Derivations aside, (even "Bladerunner" was an adaptation) some critics may perhaps broaden their climes and see that imitation is both flattery and homage to thought and endeavour. Enough said. This is my first review here as I was piqued by some of the critics. In summary...good acting and direction, detailed and well shot. Hope to see more from these players all.
