Let me first say that the name National Lampoon tends to send me running, screaming in the opposite direction. What was once a title that would give us comedy such as Animal House and the early installments in the Vacation series is now reduced to Van Wilder, Barley Legal, and Pledge This. So When I fired up the DVD player to watch Dorm Daze I thought I was getting into more of the same. However I can say that I was thrilled to find myself actually laughing out loud on several occasions during the movie. The story of Dorm Daze all takes place in about six hours when a bag of money gets mistakenly mailed to a girl in the dorm. Also a hooker and a foreign exchange student both named Dominique come to the dorm for different reasons. What ensues is a process of mistaken identity and mayhem as everyone in the dorm tries to get their hands on the money. In a series of way to convenient coincidences things get more and more out of hand as more and more people are involved in the chase. In a way Dorm Daze is like a throwback to the old madcap comedies such as What's Up Doc and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. It's hard to follow but its still fun to sit back and enjoy the ride. It's nice to see National Lampoon have one last decent movie to show what can happen when the actually try.

I was bored. I randomly started watching this movie on Showtime, and didn't know anything about it. After I finished watching, I was interested enough to figure out what the name of the movie was. Despite having only one actor that I recognized (the girl from Boy Meets World), I was actually rather impressed by this movie.First though, the negative. This movie is incredibly sophomoric. Most people who would be minimally entertained by an Animal House, for instance, would probably not be entertained at all by this movie. There are random T & A sightings, and much of the dialog is rather stilted. However, I was still entertained. The reason for this was the all-out farcical nature of the movie. This has just as many cases of mistaken identity, quick entrances & exits (often accompanied by the requisite slamming of doors) and rather intricate set of circumstances as any traditional farce type of comedy. It is clear to me that the creators of this movie (whatever deficiencies in talent they may have had), certainly had a fine appreciation of the merits of a manic, fast-paced farce. And that is ultimately the saving grace of this movie. By no means am I recommending this movie if the viewer has to spend any money to view it. But if it happens to be on Showtime, and you're bored, this movie is not a bad way to alleviate your boredom.

A stupid teen supposed comedy that revolves a serious of misunderstanding including (but not limited to) a hooker being confused with a foreign exchange student, girlfriend beating, a girl loving a gay guy, and the straight guy that loves her, and bitchy gossipers. None of the following is funny or even amusing. Nation Lampoon's use to be hilarious back in the day. Now the name is sadly synonymous with crap. And this one is NO exception. I use to think Topenga was kinda cute when she was on "Boy Meets World", but it seems she let herself go (and yes I know she has a name, but into she does ANYthing else worthwhile, she'll stay as Topenga) My Grade: DEye Candy: Kati Lohmann gets topless; Boti Bliss relies on a body double (BOOOOO!!!)

I must say, I haven't seen this movie. In fact, I had never heard of it until I was on the Queen Mary in Long Beach Harbor on 5/19/2005, and a crew was filming the SEQUEL to this movie, on the stern of the QM. There were young "beautiful people" who seemed to be enjoying their work - and at least one cameraman who was upset and considering walking off the set because he was being told to shoot at "all the wrong angles;" I guess the harshest critics are those who take pride in their own work. But I thought that anyone interested in THIS movie may be thrilled to know that filming is UNDERWAY for a sequel.
