... View MoreThe movie, supposedly a sequel of murder, at the outset clarifies that this is not so. This is an entirely different story in lines with the Saw series which explores the min of a serial killer. The story - a serial killer is loose in Goa during the time of Christmas and call girls are disappearing. Who is the serial killer? Why does he do so? How does the protagonist (Hashmi) prevent any more murders? what is in store for the viewer is a half baked, bad timed suspense. The pros - a) its possibly a critique of the Indian or for that matter any other justice system where insanity plea would reduce the crime of the killer. b) the story is about an ex-cop who chooses not to be in the system cause he doesn't believe in one. (Even these two themes are operationalized much better by 'A Wednesday')The cons - a) the story line is revealed in the middle with no suspense as to who the killer is or why does he commit murder. b) the reason for the serial killer committing murder isn't strong enough to compare it with saw. c) the movie has shades of morality beating around religion. why does bollywood drag the name of allah ram or Christ to face the question of morality? c) Jaquline cannot act! Emran tries to carry the weak film, but neither is he known for his acting skills. d) its a bit dragging towards the end! e) it makes fun of the transvestite.I give this movie a 4/10.
... View MoreThe first Murder was a run of the mill storyline. True, it was a remake but it didn't rise above the original nor did it stand out in any way as a bollywood movie. So pretty forgettable on all counts. The second movie, though, seemed to be different. Much darker in nature and scope it looked promising. Again, it's a remake of an original movie, which by now anyone with half a brain knows that anything connected with the Bhatt camp is never original. But I hoped that it would be the kind of Bollywood movie that's standing apart from the regular family entwining tear inducing rubbish of yesteryear.I was a little bit surprised and pleased with the product but mostly disappointed. The ruthlessness of the killer was portrayed well and was highly different to usual bollywood villains but the rest was pure bollywood masala. There were so many plot holes that it was impossible not to drive into one in ever scene. How is it is that the cops knew where to go at the end when they were never called nor did they follow anyone? Why doesn't EH's character drive by the nearby homes once he catches the killer very early on in the movie? Instead he meanders all over the place trying to find clues that make absolutely no sense and it's by fluke that he finds the location.I normally don't watch the songs but as I'd heard them before watching the movie I quite liked the tunes and was looking forward to seeing them but it was all done horribly wrong, which spoilt it for me.Acting wise, EH was semi decent. He tried to come off as a renegade cop with a supposed soft heart but he just looked like a big pansy with cool hair. Jacqueline Fernandes's voice was dubbed over so it was hard to really judge her acting but she tended to wear a lot of short clothes and look pretty. Her character was meant to be a tough girl but it got lost in translation. Prashant Narayanan was very good- nailed the creepy part spot on.It's a shame that the movie itself was not spot on. Direction was poor and the movie seemed to move all over the place- there was nothing coherent in the flow. EH's character was equally confusing- he wasn't a cop any longer but somehow kept acting like he was still in the force. Bozo the clown has better instincts and investigative methods.I was watching an interview with Mahesh Bhatt, who with a big grin and an arm around Jacqueline Fernandes's neck, announced that Murder 3 would be launched. What he failed to mention was that it would be launched after the Koreans, or the Americans, or whoever, made it first, giving the Bhatts enough time to study the scenes, copy it and shamelessly pass it off as an original idea.Is it worth a watch... I suppose so. You could do a lot worse...like watching an abhishek bhachan movie...
... View More"Murder", was a good movie. This movie is horrible. The Hashmmi guy is not only fat but ugly looking. He walks around like Casanova, which he isn't. The female lead, Jaqueline Fernandez, is the "Sofia Loren" of the Hindi screen, but as far as acting-she has a long way to go. Lot of the movie is shot in a dark and dreary place and the usual battalion of baddies, eunuchs, dealers, hookers and pimps come and go at alloted times. It's obvious that cell phones were the greatest invention for the pimps, who dispatch hookers to the drug pimps with more efficiency than FEMA in a Katrina disaster (some delay can be expected). The movie will appeal to the so-called fans of this fat-cheek-slob hero of the Indian Cinema. What happened to the good looking Indian actors of the Indian Cinema? Where are these eunuchoid imbeciles coming from? We have enough of these three monkey's already-the ugly, the midget and the ape. Frankly I don't know who made this guy a hero in the first place. He can't act and he walks around with a chip on his shoulder and he cannot even speak Hindi properly. The movie drags on and on with a mushy story. The editing is piecemeal. Bhatts, who are good film makers are losing their touch just like Subash Ghai. The music is awful with no melody whatsoever. God Bless Hindi Cinema!
