Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

.Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

So the first things you have to know about this movie are as follows: 1. It was supposed to have a sequel, but financial backing couldn't be drummed up, so it ends without an ending and will never be finished. See here for details as of 2013: http://goo.gl/Ba1gWH 2. It has all the trite expectations of a teen slasher flick with only one redeeming quality. Now I am a horror and slasher fan, so I don't generally mind these things. But this one was over the top. Listed in no particular order of irritating:*While trying to hide from a killer and be quiet, all the teens can do is scream at the top of their lungs. * While running for help, teens run into an abandoned places where there is obviously going to be no help. *Cops consistently "break up" even though there's no way any cop in their right mind would do such a thing.*Somehow a very large city has only 2 cops who both work the night shift, and no one ever calls for backup! *Cops clearly have no idea how to actually handle a gun as one of them could have shot his own head off several times and neither was holding it in a manner that would have involved any aim throughout the WHOLE movie. Even X Files got this right back in the 90s. So what't the good part, the story development is well done and atmospheric. We flip back and forth from the teens (whom we obviously know are in danger) to the cops who bit by bit give the story of the killer. It was atmospheric as well and lacked the overdone movie style of giving the whole story of the killer near the beginning so that all viewers have to wait for is the inevitable deaths of most of the cast. This slow development, rather like a breadcrumb trail, allows the viewer to become involved in the story so that the irritating qualities of the teens can almost be passed over.

I had met the director, Nick Smith, when he was a student at Columbia College. When I went to an early screening of this movie, what I was expecting to see was a "student film". But from the opening frame this film was an incredible surprise. Suspenseful! Great scares! Fabulous performances! Creepy visuals! Wonderfully shot! All in all, an amazingly professional first-time film. I was surprised that Roger Ebert chose to review this film but not surprised that he gave it a rave three-star review (out of four). If this is what Smith can deliver his first time out, I can't wait to see his next film. This film is worth seeing! Maybe even more than once!

Munger Road is a great Thriller and Suspense Movie,I enjoyed the Cast especially Bruce Davidson. The Story line is very cool and the movie moves at a great pace. The story is very believable and first time director Smith does a fantastic job. Nice to see a movie that is not all blood and guts and actually has the audience thinking. Reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock film genre. The film ends with the lead in to a Munger Road 2 , I see this story line having the capability of carrying at least two sequels. This would make a great TV Series for cable I can'not wait to see the sequel as this has been one of the best suspense films that I have seen since " Signs"

I would not consider myself a fan of Horror films but, certainly appreciate a well done psychological thriller and that's exactly how I would describe, Munger Road. From the very beginning I was hooked...with the impressive cinematography, the brilliant music score, the directing which was meticulous, not to mention, the plot intriguing as it was, enabled us to see & be a part of the special relationship/connection between the Sheriff & the Deputy, as well as the friendship/relationship of the 4 teens. I especially loved the ending, as I know it set the stage for Munger Road The Sequel...As a fan of some of the great Movie Classics, I was reminded of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho & Steven Spielberg's, JAWS...BRAVO!!
