While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Blistering performances.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

We saw this in the theater nearly 20 years ago. Finally found on tape, then DVD. This is one that is a must see EVERY year. Often quoted by ourselves and many of our kids. "I love grape jelly...it's a work in progress; it may never be finished." All of our kids have a copy of their own, thanks to us -the parents! Honestly, I don't know what else I can say. It is just one of the funniest shows we have ever seen. Yes, it may seem filled with dark humor, but the humor we find in it is just plain funny! Rita Wilson is one of my favorites in this one. Gracie can be a bit loud and over the top, but that's the character she plays, so maybe it needs to be that way. Steve Martin is one of our favorite actors, so that is what drew us to this movie in the first place. His timing, facial expressions and delivery are amazing as usual. I recommend this to anyone when they ask me to suggest a movie (Christmas or otherwise).

First of all - this is a remake, a remake of what may be the most funny and most viewed comedies by french people (I wouldn't be surprised if half the french population could recite the entire movie lines by heart). But where the original version was outrageous, provocative, disrespectful, politically incorrect etc... it has been watered down to nothing in the Steve Martin version. Everything that was funny is just blended down to a family viewing version which loose all appeal and originality. A total disaster and a shame.

This is possibly Steve Martin's worst film. From the bad dye job (WHY?) to the bad acting to the bad writing to the poor direction to the crappy sets to the cheap costumes to the unfunny gags to the unsuccessful attempts at physical comedy to the sheer waste of great talent to the incredible, unbelievable, mind-blowing amount of sheer BOREDOM contained within, Mixed Nuts has it all. The jokes fall flat, the music is embarrassing and cartoonish, the characters are uninteresting...ugh, I'm bored even writing this review.I am stunned by how bad this was. It's nearly impossible to believe that the brains behind When Harry Met Sally directed this total failure of a movie. That was 90 minutes I will never get back.

Is this the worst comedy film Steve Martin ever starred in? I think so. At least I thought so when I saw it a dozen years ago. I hope he hasn't done anything worse since this film. It would have to be brutal because this "comedy" was anything but humorous. It was disappointing to me because I am a fan of Martin's comedic talents and I usually enjoy the acting talents of Madeline Kahn and Juliette Lewis, as well as a few other supporting actors in here However, this script is pure garbage. In retrospect, now that I see that it is a Nora Ephron film, I'm not shocked how horrible this turned out. At least I have a lot of company in my opinion of how bad this film stinks.
