Best movie ever!
... View MoreIt's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

... View MoreYes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
... View MoreFirst of all let me comment on the incredibpe rising actress which was fantastic in the role of Sloane. The film takes time to cook and does not exactly grab you from the start, you do need concentration on the subtleties it proposes and will leave you both astonished and angry by how it unfolds. It is deep and fascinationg, the character of Sloane is certainly not the typical female that follows restricting rules of society about how women must behave, and for that it is reverting and deserves any award for honesty.
... View MoreThe payoff that would have made the movie decent was too predictable, it was telegraphed from the beginning. The weak gun control arguments were predictably treated as strong, and the opposition's arguments were, of course, very weak, making this a propaganda piece, rather than a legitimate work of art.The most interesting part to watch movie was Sloane's career mindedness, trumping all else and the implications of that choice, but that alone, was not enough to make it good.
... View MoreThis movie could have been something great, if its script could have managed to be something coherent. alas, it is not. neither my mother nor i could follow the film to save our lives, and i have a BA in cinema! granted, my cinema dean once told me i wasn't so good with non linear storytelling so maybe this wasn't the film for me, but judging by some other comments on here, i'm thinking i'm not alone on being completely lost when it was over. in the hands of a great screenwriter, this film could have been very powerful (ie, Chastain's collaboration with sorkin, 'molly's game'. great film and easy to follow, despite similar themes of fast paced dialogue and complicated themes) ultimately, when you can't keep track of who is on what side and what is and isn't relevant to the film, you have a problem. i would have failed the film but gave an extra point for Chastain's bad ass performance.
... View MoreThis movie had so much potential, but was so full of lies and the regurgitated pro-gun and anti-gun talking points, it missed the mark ENTIRELY. Too bad. I hate to see wasted talent.
