I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

"Mermaids on Mars" is unusual because it's a short film with a lot of appeal to kids...as well as the rest of the family. The film consists of both live-action and animated sequences. The live-action begins with a sick kid in bed and her mother decides to tell her a story to take her mind off being stuck inside all day. The story is about her grandfather and father and how they ended up meeting and ultimately helping a group of mermaids living on Mars! The film is unusual in that the animation looks much like the old Rankin-Bass animated Christmas specials (such as "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" or "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"). I assume it was made using models but could have been CGI meant to look like these puppets. Regardless, the story is clever and cute...and well worth seeing.
