This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

I consider Mera Naam Joker to be one of Raj Kapoor's finest movie followed by Sangam. As a child I disliked Mera Naam Joker,I thought it was dull then years later I watched it again and realised how wrong I was. Mera Naam Joker was Raj Kapoor's personal project,he invested millions and millions into MNJ only for it to fail miserably at the box office. Since it's release MNJ is regarded as a cult classic. Looking at the movie you can see where that money went,MNJ has cameos from Bollywood's leading actors:Dharmendra, Simi Garewal, Manoj Kumar,Rajendra Kumar,Dhara Singh and many more. Mera Naam Joker tells the story of a man who is lonely and unhappy and yet he spreads his happiness around the world dressed up as a clown. The music as per usual for a RK production is extraordinary, my favourite is Jeena Yahan Marna Yahn which has a haunting feel to it. It is a real shame that on it's release MNJ didn't get the recognition it rightfully deserves. MNJ is a unique movie experience that will touch people's heart and will remain fixed in their memory forever

Raj Kapoor always made movies with passion. This flick was simply one of them. He acted marvelously. The film had won 5 Filmfare Awards including National Award.Acting and Direction:Raj Kapoor's acting is outstanding and direction has no flaws. The young joker played by his youngest son Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor won National award for his performance. The direction is highly praising. To my mind, no other director in Bollywood could make such long film that entertaining as Raj Kapoor did.Production and Editing:R.K Films spent a lot of money for this film too. Raj Kapoor's editing was also excellent. No dragging scenes at all.Lyrics and Music:Lyrics were fine. Shanker-Jaikishan won the Filmfare Award for best music director. The song "KEHAT HAI JOKER SARA ZAMANA", "TEETAR KE DO AAGE TEETAR", "JEENA YAHAN MARNA YAHAAN", "AAY BHAI ZARA DEKHE CHALO", "JAANE KAHAAN GAAYE WOH DIN". Manna Dey won best playback singer award for AAE BHAI... I loved the music. I think it's still impossible to forget these songs.Cast:Good performances by all the cast including Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, Dara Singh and Rajendra Kumar.Message:The movie conveys an optimistic message.

One of the greatest films ever made in India. No film has ever evoked my heart to such an extent and it's philosophy is outstanding.THe musical theme is magnificent and the songs remarkable. The story of a clown making the world laugh while secretly brushing that tear from his eye is like re-writing the life of Charlie Chaplin in the Indian form. The symbol of the joker however is over repeated after the first part which partly created a monotony for viewers.I can never forger the scene when he smiles with a tear in his eyes after removing his glasses telling Russian actress Marina in the Circus that he is not sad.It is an absolutely heart touching film unsurpassed in the annals of Indian film history.By Harsh Thakor

Raj Kapoor presents an hypothetical autobiography of scathing power that might be his most uncompromising movie and true legacy. Rishi Kapoor plays the young Raj very convincingly and I found the first part to be the most refreshing and touching. The Joker's philosophy is true but does not have may buyers but use this movie as a grand scale memento mori. Check out Raj Kapoor's 'Jagte Raho' for a more devastating social critique. The film is unique for a true Indo-Russian love story and dialogue in Russian. Love and let live.
