A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

(Flash Review)Based on the true story of Meagan Leavey and her trusty bomb locating dog Max. This is more than a typical American patriotic war movie, it is a movie for dog lovers. You follow the life of how Meagan got into service, into the bomb locating K9 unit and what events lead her to become so attached to her dog partner. It had a nice buildup with fairly engaging drama and battle scenes and light romantic sub story, all with quality production value. Most importantly seeing how much effort she put in trying to take ownership of the dog after they both put in their time was basically the 3rd act and arguably was rushed of underdeveloped at times. Another moderately interesting and unique story in the war/drama category.

Being a member of the forces this film comes pretty close to how it feels being put in those positions out on the front were it feels like its just you your dog and your patrol. This film grips your emotions, I was shocked to see how the director makes you feel for young Megan and then turns her into an amazing dog handler, Credit goes to the all the actors involved and the director amazing flick and would recommend to anyone who wants that real life army film. absolute classic would recommend to anyone R.I.P Rex

As a female Army retiree, I was pleased with how this movie portrayed a female in combat. At first she was told females could not go out on patrols but she proved herself and they began to rely on her. The bond she has with Rex is incredible. I'm not sure how much of the "based on a true story" aspects were true, but it was well done.HOWEVER, as a veteran I noticed some flaws. When she was medevacked in the movie, they used a Huey helicopter. Hueys were not used in Afghanistan, according to a medic that was there at the same time Megan Leavey was there. Maybe that was the only helicopter they could get for the movie. There were some other things too but I don't want to nit-pick. Overall, it was a really good movie and, as a dog lover and former animal shelter volunteer, I cried when she couldn't adopt Rex, initially.I highly recommend this movie to anyone thinking of watching it.

Summary (no spoilers) This is based on the true life story of a young marine corporal whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their posting in Iraq.My Review (no spoilers)One of the classiest biographies I have seen depicted by some outstanding actors such as Kate Mara and the dog who acted as Rex. This movie made the audience go deep into the hearts of Megan Leavey and her dog Rex. The war scenes were good and up to the point. Lots of scenes where there is this movie which made tears in my eyes. I feel like adopting a dog myself now. Overall a wonderful movie which just made my day.My RecommendationYes just go watch it already. My Rating8/10
