If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Really, Mark's review, (the highest rated one about this movie) is more entertaining than Megashark vs. Giant Octopus. Not like that is difficult, however cheers Mark! Great satirical 10 star review. Normally I can't stand them because people can't pull off satire but you nailed it! Anyway.....On to my review.I have to give some credit to the cast and crew for basically pulling an Ed Wood and just using whatever toys their kids had lying around as "Special Effects". The acting was actually not too bad considering the script they had to work with. I personally think that Debbie Gibson did quite well, however any career she planned in the film industry was destroyed by her accepting this role.I wish I could say that this movie is one of those "It's so bad it's good" but it just isn't. I think with the FXGuru app on my phone and a bunch of friends could remake this movie and make it look more realistic. In general, even if you are a huge fan of B movies like I am, this movie is not deserving of being called a B: film. It is almost like the director and writer believed that they were making a AAA film on a shoestring budget, and just failed all around. To use the old trope, they "jumped the shark" the moment the shark jumped into the air to grab the airplane (not really a spoiler since it's in the trailer and happens within the first 10 minutes...) If you enjoy watching the same 4 second clip of a shark swimming over and over again (and sometimes even FLIPPED!!! or REVERSED!!! omg!) than you'll enjoy the 4 min of screen time the monsters get.Hard to give this a 3, but I really think that Gibson showed that she had acting potential, so I am giving it an extra point due to her performance. And notice, I said "she had potential", because seriously, this movie killed any chance of her being taken seriously in the industry. And that's kind of sad because she actually showed some talent.2.5 but bumped up to a 3 for Debbie Gibson seeming to be the only one involved in this project to give a crap about it.

In the Arctic, a giant prehistoric shark and a giant prehistoric octopus thaw out. This means danger for everyone. The "Mega Shark" and the "Giant Octopus" munch on famous bridges and bite airplanes in the nose. To solve the problem, marine enthusiast Deborah "Debbie" Gibson (as Emma MacNeil) wants to provoke a "bloodbath" battle between the shark and octopus – like the "Thrilla in Manila," she explains. This refers to a 1975 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The best special effect is the "shaky camera" accompanied by actors directed to move like their submarine is shaking – they look like they're playing foosball... Different color lights enhance the photography, with the green lights being most effective. Writer-director Jack Perez (incognito as Ace Hannah) gets good performances from the extras and bit players. Former "Falcon Crest" hunk Lorenzo Lamas (as Allan Baxter) seems angry with his role. Music by Chris Ridenhour and soundtrack effects help, but it's all for naught. The pace is dull and unexciting. The titular monsters are not frightening and their big fight is a dud.** Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (5/26/09) Jack Perez ~ Debbie Gibson, Vic Chao, Lorenzo Lamas, Sean Lawlor

Two class monsters, one class show down. Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus is a triumph, exceeding all others in its genre. With beginning scenes of snow scapes, easily comparable to those in "Day AFter Tomorrow", the backdrop for the film is set to be of high quality throughout. The acting is spot on. In terms of characterisation, faced with the premise of the film as it is, the way in which these actors totally encompass all feeling in response to the dramatic events which unfold throughout, is incomparable to any film in the current movie industry. Frankly it is beyond my comprehension how Vic Chao has gone without recognition for his roles in Mega Shark', Mask of the Ninja, The Metro- sexual and so so many more; the man deserves an Oscar.I can only hope that with time, Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus will achieve the level of acclaim the it deserves; and that future generations will look back and marvel at this piece of 'pure class' cinema.

One day in Idaho,I was with my cousins at a movie theater, watching movie trailers, of course. Then I was mesmerized, I saw a trailer for Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. But it was very different than the one I watched this year. First, the day is casual and that, then, out of the water jumps the Giant Octopus! Then it lands on the ground and slithers up a huge building! Then somebody {who I later figure out is Emma} calls the military. They come in on helicopters. But at the same time, Mega Shark jumps out of the water, eat the helicopters in air and then goes back in the water and roars. Then, Giant Octopus makes the sound of a whale and leaps back in the water. Aircraft carriers are then sent into the water the search and corner the creatures together to fight, then they'd kill the remaining one, like in Dinocroc vs Supergator.A close up inside one of the aircraft carriers is on screen, and we see Emma,a man by the apparent name of Lamar, and Seiji Shimada. We then see the Giant Octopus and the Mega Shark in a titanic tussle to the death, and the trailer ends. But the movie didn't show this. But the movie was still very very good! The fight was amazing! The science was unbelievable! The Mega Shark and Giant Octopus... unstoppable.Their fight was electrifying!First, the Giant Octopus wrapped up the wary Mega Shark, who then bites off one of the tentacles. It happens again later in the movie but in the end, with the Mega Shark biting Giant Octopus' throat and the Giant Octopus squeezing Mega Shark to death, they both die. But Lamar, Emma, and Doctor Shimada {I think thats his name} are still the main characters
