The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
... View MoreThe acting in this movie is really good.
... View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
... View MoreIt is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
... View MoreThe story of "Meat Market 2" involves a scrappy pack of neo-punkers and their vampire friend as they struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland lousy with the wandering, bloodthirsty zombies and few resources to get by on.I haven't seen "Meat Market",so I can't compare that film to its sequel.Still "Meat Market 2" is clearly influenced by Italian zombie and post-apocalypse flicks. The film is loaded with tons of gore and maggots, but the violence is not as bloody as I expected. In fact the gore scenes are quite cheesy and amateurish.Still I liked grisly make-up of several zombies. The acting is atrocious and the story is highly influenced by George A.Romero's "Day of the Dead".On the other hand,I'd rather watch "Meat Market 2" again than endure the garbage of "Zombie Brigade" or "Oasis of the Zombies" one more time.So if you like low-budget splatter mayhem give this one a try,but Brian Paulin's "Bone Sickness" is a much better zombie film.
... View MoreEveryone is entitled to his opinion like the dude who posted the first comment, but I couldn't completely agree with him for trashing this movie. I purchased this film and the sequel when the director himself was selling them before he got distribution. There were parts of the film that were disturbing so as a soldier's penis being ripped off by a zombie and eaten, as well as a doctor having sex with rotten human flesh and a group of humans eating human organs for dinner! But beyond that, it is an okay film. What do you expect since it is a low budget flick? (The director spends an average of $2000 on his projects and lives in Canada.) Regardless, the film isn't completely bad. But isn't that what we like? You can't expect to get Shakesphere out of a gore flick zombie romp, now could you? What was this dude (the other reviewer), thinking? That it was going to be actually good when it was made in someone's backyard!? The first film was better and not as vulgar, but for effort I give the director a 5 out of 10. (And no, I am not his friend.)
... View MoreA well crafted sequel to the original hit "Meat Market" Contains many of the same themes and metaphors the first one had, and utilized to the skill and mastery of a surgeon in heat. (Globalization, Environmentalism, Zombie-face-sucking-gut-bustin-a-fication, and womanization). The second surpasses the first in the amount of hidden subtext only inversely proportional to the decrease in the amount of time given to introspection."Meat Market 2" will stand out as a true film-fan's film, and will endure the test of time as, the movie itself is practically ageless. Themes, settings, characters have a glow that only a well crafted movie can have; time less characters such as "Diablo Azul" and my particular fave "Cult Compound Guard" (played to masterful perfection by http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1385071/ ).No movie before or since has or will ever be called a classic again until reaching the heights this movie has set. So high is that bar, only the tallest of directors could possibly dare touch it. Look out Shaquille O'Neil, It's MEAT MARKET 2!!
... View MoreI finally got to see the sequel to what is now one of my favorite films, Meat market. Meat Market 2 is another low budget masterpiece from Brian Clement. If you thought the first movie was fun, you have not seen anything yet. This time, it's a year after the first film. A few characters from the first movie, plus a new guy are still trying to survive. They end up in a very Day of the Dead-esque setting, with a facist cult leader who is trying to set up a new society of desirables. Ok, enough plot, on to the wicked s***. The characters again, are a mix of crazy/messed up people. My favorites being the crazed chef, and the meat f*cker. Yes that's right, i did say meat f*cker. There is also a lunatic scientist who has many funny scenes. His explanation for doing experiments is goddamn classic. The special effects are again great for such a low budget. The acting is....well, what can i say? I loved it for what it was. It never tried to hard to be something it wasn't. (The vampire finally bites someone!) There is also brief reappearance of El Diablo Azul, and it gave me a reason to live again. As a big zombie fan(aka person with no life), i absolutely loved Meat Market 2. Entertaining to the point that you wanna run out and make your own zombie film. Thanks again people, you are gods. Thanks for great cinema.
