It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I tried to watch this movie because of Hilary Duff! I think she's incredibly charming, and underrated. I'll give anything of hers a shot. I like Hayley as well. I really should have left this one alone! Not only is this movie awful, but it's beneath Hilary. It has basic slapstick that offers no laughs. Not to mention the talk about mascara and makeup gets old very quickly. It's innocuous, but it has a very shallow plot with every character virtually unlikable. It's really sad to see Anjelica Huston languish in this crud. I didn't watch the entire movie! I could only stand 40 minutes of it. Even Hilary's charm can't save itDUD

SPOILER ALERT: This film runs its so-called "outtakes" and "bloopers" at the end of the film, during the credits. This is an 'age old' technique of filmmakers and movie studios to take one final shot at persuading the viewers of a downright awful, unfunny "comedy" (as they are about to leave the theater) that they are happy about having just wasted the last 90 to 120 minutes of their lives and can never get that, or their money back! The outtakes and bloopers also somewhat effectively distract the viewer from paying any attention to the names rolling on the screen, which gives those who were involved in the disaster just viewed an opportunity to hopefully escape being associated with the train wreck. ------------------------- Now, on to the review: Save your money, stay home and scrub the toilets. It's a much better use of your time. You're welcome.

If you are a fan of trendy clothes, superficiality, and emptiness, "Material Girls" is the film for you. But, if on the contrary, you have a mind of your own, and couldn't care less for designer labels, and all the trendiness of a certain group of people, then this is a movie you might not enjoy. Even as the Marchetta girls keep getting poorer by the minute, they seem to have a knack for pulling the right outfits to go with their new impoverished state! One was curious as to what attracted Martha Coolidge, its director, to such paper thin material. She has done better with other movies, so we were surprised to see her at the helm of this project which will not add anything to her resume. As far as the acting goes, this movie will not win any awards, that's for sure. Even Angelica Huston, an actress of excellent taste seems to be asking to herself, "What am I doing in this piece of $#%%^%"!

Well, its one of those films you watch and at the end you don't feel satisfied! But not too bad for a chick flick.Hilary & Hayley delivered on the acting side yet the storyline ended too fast. there was no proper ending which left me wanting more! I wanted to see more of the relationships towards the end. The thing we all love about girly movies is the 'happily ever after' feeling at the end. This film missed this :( definitely not the best film (Hilary's worst to be honest) but a lot better than some other films out there! Before watching a movie, i have expectations especially if i like the cast. Don't go into this movie with high expectation and you will enjoy it.xSx87x
