A man broke down a hillock into pieces with just a hammer and a chisel in 21 years. He was the Mountain Man of India- Dashrath Manjhi. Its disheartening that he never got his due and his family could never come out of poverty. The state government barely did anything to promote him. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has portrayed the character beautifully, but over dramatization at instances steals the charm from the film. It could have been even more shorter and even more solid. However despite clichés, it manages to deliver the what it promised. I would have given it 8/10. But those two extra points are for the man who inspired the movie.

We always talk about how Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal for his wife Mum Taj Mahal, after her death. Well here we have a role model even Greater: Manjhi – The mountain man. Dashrat manjhi cut down a mountain single handed, day and night, for 22 years… to ensure no one dies due to absence of medical care in given time like his wife. The distance of travel reduced from 70km to 1 km because of his efforts. The movie is great, added elements and acting of Nawazuddin Siddiqui keep our interests pinned. A part from the main story I liked how he made a settlement for marriage of his children. A goof that I was wondering about, Manjhi never appeared in partially grown beard or a light beard. The acting, the elements and the story however, make up for a much better contender.I belong to city mostly, but occasionally we visit village. The seating posture of villagers while having something, the dancer which is not female dressed as female and performing (in mela), politics of irritating, dirty politicians (people in power, here zamindar) is shown well.

This is the first movie ever to make me cry, the emotions of DASHRATH MANJHI portrayed by Nawazuddin is heart melting..its been a while since i've watched something like this and it's only the second time i actually feel the urge to write a review for a movie because it deserves one. i can't appreciate enough the efforts and excellence of Nawaz. The determination, love for his wife and will power of DASHRATH MANJHI is unbelievable n awe inspiring. Building a Taj Mahal for your wife with someone else's money and man power and then cutting their hands off so that they can't make more of its likes is one thing but constructing a road through a mountain for others in memory of your wife is something that the world needs especially at a time when everyone thinks of their own. People say many odd things about Biharis and their culture for them its a lesson for them , hope next time they ope their mouths they would remember the name MANJHI. I loved how the director has brought the realness of bihari culture into this movie and hats off to nawaz for portraying it so well. Last time i saw a perfect biopic was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag ,its nice to see that movie makers have started working in this genre, its at least better than the Masala category. It was sad to see that the movie made only 15 million in the box office where as some masala movie with nothing but extreme heroism, brainless scripts and over exaggerated scene defying the laws of physics make millions ,anyways thanks to Karan Mehta for bringing to us the story of DASHRATH MANJHI and also thanks to Nawazuddin Siddiqui for portraying it so well.

I just loved Nawazuddin Siddiqui before, but this film here is the ultimate. His expressions of happiness, love, despair, frustration, anger, hopelessness and all of them at one go, what not? it was a wholesome treat!!I was flabbergasted by his acting prowess where he confronts his "Phaguniya" (the girl who he just happens to meet for the first time and falls for her) and comes to know that she is in fact his wife (Child marriage). His acting that moment lasting less than 30 seconds is something that will be etched in your minds forever. Every frame, every scene for that matter every inch of the filmmaking can be referred for the future generations that yearn to make a career in films! The man wielding the megaphone, needless to say has never and not even this time, let any moment go slack. The cinematography is eye-appeasing and superb. There was never a dull moment.Even if it does not win an Oscar, I don't have any qualms, because in my opinion it has already won one for the country!!Just go for it!
