... View MoreMr. Jack (Matthew Modine) and Sweet Stephen (Callum Blue) travel the streets of L.A. pontificating on various subjects. They go to Bucky (Zach Galifianakis)'s porn shop to buy something special. The first one is free. Philly comes (Paul Adelstein) in to rob the porn store. Police detective Tommy (Adam Baldwin) shoots him in the head and rescues everybody. In his investigation, Tommy meets Norma (Liza Weil). Meanwhile the guys keep traveling.Everybody is acting crazy. How crazy? Zach may be the least crazy one in the movie. It's all very wacky, random, and tiresome. In the only thing that truly matters, this is not funny. Quite frankly, the movie loses all the drive after it leaves the porn shop and Zach. If it stayed in the shop, I could see some interesting wacky things happening instead of the boring wacky things in this movie. Directed by Gregory Dark and written by Robert Dean Klein, I don't know anything about either guy and I don't see anything here to suggest anything good can be expected. This does try to be profound in the end but it's too little too late.
... View MoreMaybe I can count myself lucky, because I decided to watch this movie because of it's original title: "Little Fish, Strange Pond". I quite often feel like a little fish in a strange pond - a very strange pond. While watching this movie I realized, there probably are quite some people, to whom that pond seem even more strange, which made me laugh - at first. Soon enough one get a feeling. You couldn't predict anything, but you feel this is going from bad to worse and I suddenly was not sure whether I laughed because it was funny or my laughter was plainly hysterical. I saw this movie last week and I was ever since having some thoughts I didn't ever before. I must admit others who have seen this movie might not have been stirred up like me and again others might not have liked being stirred up. I think that's the reason this movie gets a lot of low ratings and yet some excellent ones.
... View MoreThe philosophical questions raised and explored in this film are very deep indeed, pertaining to life, death, love, good, and evil. It provokes many thoughts in the minds of the audience, if you are paying close enough attention to understand the subliminal messages. The first time through it was great, I was left stunned. The second time I watched this with my grandfather, and he elaborated on the messages that Gregory Dark is trying to convey with this film, answering many questions in my mind, and making me love this movie all the more. On the third time around, it was set in stone, as my favorite movie as of yet in my life, and has yet to be surpassed. It may take a couple views to fully understand the meaning behind this film, but then again this movie isn't for everyone, clearly the people giving bad reviews don't understand this movie, as they were expecting more of a comedy because of Zach Galifanakis on the cover. No offense to the people who didn't enjoy this, as most of the people here in the US wouldn't like this movie, but if you are not only intelligent but either in acceptance of wisdom or wise yourself as well, then this movie is for you. Also, the Indie/Alternative music in this film is fantastic! Fits in perfectly with the emotion of the story. The Silent Years and Matt Boroff & The Mirrors are now two of my favorite groups because of this movie! Whenever I listen to them my mind is reminiscent of scenes in the movie (that may be improper grammar, but that don't give me one shite, as long as you understand the point I'm trying to get across ^u^ ). =)
... View MoreAKA Frenemy. Whoever put Zach G.'s picture on the front of this owes him and anyone who watches this movie an apology. It's clear that someone was blatantly trying to exploit Zach Galifianakis's fame to dupe people into renting this waste of time. Not only that, but there were so few comedic moments there is no way it should be called a comedy. Dark, yes, I'll give them that but it was as random as watching Family Guy but completely devoid of humor. The only reason that I gave it two stars is because the main cast and most of the acting was pretty solid. It's kind of like the "abstract art" that nobody really gets but so-called "deep thinking" critics say they love just to make you think that they know something that you don't. It was less than an hour an a half long and it still seemed to go on forever. I want my dollar and my 80 minutes back!
