Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

A waste of 90 minutes of my life

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

This is a great movie. Period. Acting of both actresses superb. Didn't see the plot twist coming which makes it great. Others may have issues with the actions and consequences and morality of the story but it's a movie, you're supposed to be entertained and that's exactly what you're gonna get; if it makes you think, that's a bonus, and that only means it really is a well-crafted movie.

Liked it well worth watching it. Critics were a bit harsh. Though Jennifer Lopez worked so well with Viola in their characterizations. Don't want to give anything away with its well crafted script twists and turns. Grief of a mother was so magnificently portrayed by many of the cast. Unfortunately something that we see so much of in the US murders not solved, racism within police, gang wars and victims - it was all there without beating the chest or imposing it. The script was not only well crafted the director controlled the passions. Well done everyone - yes there are weaknesses but not enough to warrant bypassing this film.

While this film won't win an Academy Award or any other glamorous award for that matter, it is a good film. The cast, for the most part, is what makes it as good as it is. The emotion and drama that's displayed by Viola Davis' character is flawless. Viola Davis, as usual, gives a wonderful performance in this film along side Jennifer Lopez. Although Jennifer Lopez's performance isn't as high caliber as Viola Davis' they both made a great pair in this film. Not anything different or original, this film is about two women who seek out and take revenge on the men who murdered their sons, it's that simple, or is it. Fairly written with some drama and a nice plot twist this film is enough to be enjoyed.

This movie has an awesome twist, which is why I give it a 5 and not a 3. I didn't even see it coming, and I usually do. Still, though I admit I have no experience with directing, camera-work, screen writing etc., I just can't understand why revenge movies don't follow the basic kick assery as these: kill bill, man on fire, oldboy, taken, mad max, unforgiven, the brave one, law abiding citizen the Punisher and the lesser known but one of my personal favorites, The Horseman. There are only a few basic ingredients. The victim needs to be an innocent child, the bad people need to be outrageously evil and over the top vicious, cruel and psychopathic, and the avenger needs to "tap into" a capacity for methodical and stylistic revenge he/she never thought capable of. Kind of like Walt discovering his true passion was for working the system and being a criminal. Oh, almost forgot Kevin Bacon's Death Sentence, another great one (John Goodman I worship you). With this film, as awesome as the twist is, you never get the engaging momentum and relentless non-stop gore and vigilantism as the antihero moves up the chain to finally snuff out the mega-boss who "ordered the hit." It's actually kind of boring at times. Still, it's worth watching for the lead performances, which were excellent, and the climax.
