Am I Missing Something?
... View MoreThe movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
... View MoreThe tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
... View MoreAn old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
... View MoreThe first impression of this movie was I already had feeling that it would become a funny movie. And I was not wrong. The film about two aliens working together in order to lift a human up to their UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) is brilliant. First of all, I like how they portrayed aliens as green slime like creatures. Not to mention they are irresistibly cute as well. The small alien is my favorite. He probably has no talent to be what aliens are supposed to be, but he would never stop trying. The human who is going to be lifted is so unrealistic in my opinion, but that is what makes this film more interesting in the first place. This film is only five minutes, and I recommend you to watch it.
... View More'Lifted' was an absolutely hilarious story. I loved it to bits. It was quite unexpected and I think Pixar said more with no dialogue than many others. The short was cute and funny, but also unpredictable. I didn't really expect the aliens to appear or for the aliens to have some kind of exam that involved kidnapping humans. The way they filmed it, the way they made it look like it is a very complicated process. The amount of knowledge that poor alien had to have about all the buttons and switches made me empathize with him so much. I felt bad for him, the test he had to take and about his strict instructor. I was very happy when the supervisor helped him at the end. It was a very nice ending. I wished it was a bit longer. I would have liked for it to be a bit longer.
... View MoreAnimation is my weakness. To me, it is easier to get envolved with the story when real people do not take part in it (acting). The story is simple; a young alien comes to Earth to take his "abduction exam", as if it was a "driver license exam", and things don't go very well during the exam. As many other PIXAR SHORT FILMS, the purpose of Lifted is to make the audience laugh. Well, I laughed.. And the nicest thing is that even though you can figure what is going to happen next during the whole time, you end up laughing. I may be terribly wrong, but my impression is that one of the reasons for such thing is the usage of sounds; every sound just fits perfectly with each scene.
... View MoreThis short animation movie is the story of a young alien who tries to pass an ability test for the spaceship he works in. His goal is to lift a man, sleeping in his room, and bring him to the vessel. Without any words of dialogue, the screenwriter manages to convey a really funny state of mind to the viewer by putting emphasis on comic actions and gags. Beyond, it shows a real work in terms of visual story telling because everything is focused on the way the character act and behave towards each other. Another thing that is remarkably well conveyed through this visual work is suspense. Even though it is not comparable to a normal movie in this term (it is not a long movie with a lot of sequences, a lead character that we know and a solid plot) a lot of questions come to our mind as viewers (Is the Alien going to pass the test successfully? What will he get if he passes?) This funny side of the plot stays during the whole movie. From the beginning to the end, the movie is really humourous and enjoyable! Therefore, I would recommend you take 5 minutes to watch it!
