At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Wow that was painful! The film style used to film this movie made this movie so cheesy! Almost looks like a 70's style film... What a disappointment for Cuba & Christian. What where they thinking? They must be so embarrassed! The girls were very pretty and their fight scene was one of the best girl fights that I've seen. Even the cars weren't that great for being made in 2009. The airplane part was the kicker for me. LAME! I wish this sight showed how much money each actor got paid for their part. It would explain a lot.... I hope Christian does something better in the future. I've always like him especially in the Mob movie he did in the 90's. Christian plays a good sexy bad guy. I've always wondered why he isn't in more films. Oh well, I've heard all actors have at least one movie their not proud of.

LIES & ILLUSIONS(2009) is a comedy thriller (using the term 'thriller' loosely here) which I think some critics and reviewers have taken too seriously. Perhaps they miss some of the dry humour. Nevertheless, I cannot see audiences queueing around the block to see this one, unless they are giving away free ice cream and popcorn to go with it. Best to watch it when it comes on TV. While I respect Cuba Gooding as an actor, Christian Slater's voice kinda grates on my nerves and he always seems to be reading his script off a prompt board.Wes Wilson (Slater) is a writer and he writes books about love - how to find your love, how to keep your love, that kind of stuff. He is engaged to a beautiful woman, Samantha (Sarah Ann Schultz - who I mistook at first for Kirsten Dunst) who is suddenly kidnapped by a bunch of thugs lead by Isaac Kahn (Gooding) and Wes is left lying in the car park dirt as they drive her away. But what do they want? They want diamonds. Seems Wes' fiancée has been leading a double life and poor old Wes knows nothing about it. Then he is called in to see her attorney and in one year's time, Wes will be entitled to all his fiancée owned which includes the house and the contents of a safety deposit box. How time flies. And soon the baddies are back.I think by the time you get so far into the movie, you might not care what happens next. You might be asleep.

This is really a bad movie... Acting is just horrible and the plot is as stupid as it gets. Not one of the main characters is worth mentioning as the acting is bad from everyone. Don't need a spoiler alert here since you can pretty much guess how the plot will unfold from the getgo. Now the fight scenes are just plainly bad, like really bad... Who fights standing on tables?!? Really? And when you have a gun you don't move closer to your opponent so he can punch you and then drop the gun. Jesus! As for the camera work I got pretty dizzy at times. The lens they used give the movie a cheap feel like it is a low budget college movie. Really bad choice. Avoid at all costs. NOT even a rental. I wonder why people still waste money doing these movies.

This movie was actually quite better than I was expecting. It has plenty of suspense, action, and comedy. It's kind of like the opposite version of True Lies. Christian Slater stars as an author named Wes Wilson. On the night of a party, his fiancé, Samantha is kidnapped. A year has passed, and he is still haunted by that night. At a book signing, he meets Nichole and they slowly become a couple. Wes is soon approached by a man named Isaac who keeps asking where the diamonds are. When Wes finds out that Samantha is still alive, he learns that she is actually a spy. Wes, Samantha, and Nichole must stop Isaac before he gets what he wants. I highly recommend LIES & ILLUSIONS!!!
