Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

An amazing psychological thriller. The acting is good, the soundtrack is good, even the effects are good. Whether or not everything is realistic is one thing, but it still did not fail at keeping its viewers at the edge of their seats. The only reason it has received so many negative votes is because it puts Islam in a bad light. Consequently, all of the 1-star reviews are from Muslims who don't want their religion in this light. However, the truth is that there are many people out there that do exist. And they are simply following the Quran's teachings. Any Muslim that denies that the Quran commands violence towards unbelievers is either lying or is outright ignorant of their own religion. But religion aside, this was a great movie.

The film was not the only thing bad about this Bollywood bomb. Dharma Productions also failed to pay thousands of dollars to actors, vendors and even casting companies. They place the blame on The Swish Group whom they hired to handle the payroll for them. Swish went belly up and filed for bankruptcy. The Phila Teamsters got paid so that the production company could go to NY and finish and not be shut down by the Teamsters up there. In solidarity with American actors, they should have been shut down. In all fairness to the NY teamsters, they probably were unaware of it until it was over. A class action suit is still pending against them. I know since I was one of the actors stiffed by them. That was for work in Dec. of 2008. But the film itself was terrible on it's own merit. It wasn't worth the time I spent to to watch it or work on it.

Since the success of Aamir Khan's Fanaa there has been a surge of terrorist themed Bollywood movies, (A Wednesday, New York and now Kurbaan). I've deliberately left out My Name is Khan because it wasn't about the terrorist themselves but about how the common man is affected by their actions. I remember Yash Raj's New York came out now long before Kurbaan and was a pretty big hit. Maybe that's the reason why Kurbaan went largely unnoticed. Another reason could be that it lacks the hallmarks of a Karan Johar production. In a typical Karan Johar movie there's plenty of songs and dancing. and occasionally funny in places. It's a shame really because it's far better than I expected.Where Kurbaan excels is that it is a far more brutal movie than any of the terrorist themed Bollywood movies I've mentioned. In a typical terrorist themed Bollywood movie someone would come along and stop the bomb from exploding or the terrorist would have a sudden change of heart. In Kurbaan the bombs do actually explode and many are injured or killed. The highlight for was not any of the main leads(they were all great however) but it was Om Puri. I've never ever seen him act so serious in the movie but I suppose his role as the leader required him to do that. On a end note I would encourage fans of Bollywood to see this movie, you won't regret it.

Even though the start of the movie is interesting, it falls flat on its face after the 1st quarter. Very illogical movie, as if the audience is dumb. Why doesn't Kareena never dials 911 to call police after seeing Salma's dead body? How stupid it is to call Diya Mirza instead of altering authorities of the plain bomb. - Why does Vivek decides to take matters in his own hands? It could have been a much better movie, if Vivek worked with FBI and acted as a mole. That would make it a much more logical thriller. No wonder, it fell flat on the box office. I just can't understand why Indian story writer and director feel it is OK to make illogical movies like this? Here is my message to them: FU losers, We are NOT stupid. Do not make illogical movies.Glad, I watched it only on netflix streaming and thus did not waste my hard earned money on this piece of illogical crap.
