Wow! Such a good movie.

This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place

I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

After being asked to participate in a rescue mission after a disastrous mountain-climbing incident, a man and his team find the area protected by a group of vicious creatures guarding a secret within the mountain and try to get away before falling victim to the ravenous beings.This one wasn't too bad and definitely has it's good parts. Among the better elements here is that the action scenes are really enjoyable with all the location scenes up high in the mountains, gives this one a rather sizable sense of action along the way. The opening attack of the camp is immensely fun with the attacks keeping the creatures hidden enough while rampaging through camp as well as they're ranks in a flurry of activity, a later scene of the disaster crash of the creatures taking out the helicopter crashing it against the side of the mountain in front of the attempted rescue-victims as well as the rather exciting descent down into the crevice all come off as really fun action scenes spread out across the mountain. Even more fun is the scenes inside the mountain with a great sequence during a driving snowstorm of the creatures attacking the camp and forcing the team underground where the stalking continues into a series of deep caves, plenty of big pits littered with rocky outcroppings and human skeletons which gives off quite a creepy tone here. Even better, the later scenes in the temple are quite fun as the hive featuring all the baby creature coming after the gang in some really creepy scenes giving this one some great action in the numerous escapes and chases throughout here. Likewise, there's some more to like here as the creatures here are pretty enjoyable creations in terms of looks with it's lizard-like body and alien head creating a distinctive look that are given enough storyline points to care about and are woven nicely into the story as there's some great attempts at explaining their connection to the mythology of the area. As well, the fact that there's a rather enjoyable pace keeps this one moving along rather well which is more than enough at keeping this one up over its few flaws. The flaws, though, all seem to come from the fact that this has too many subplots here, as there's the military intervention which is never given a purpose and put here almost as an afterthought that take kills away from the creature, the cancer scare and the trapped wife and eventual reconciliation that come off as complete clichés while the former is further guilty of also being a complete throwaway that all could've gone away and not messed the film up at all. This one also comes up short here in really selling the secret goal of the original mission since it's never really made clear why they needed to be as secretive as they are to get him on-board with their plans. Overall, though, it's pretty enjoyable.Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Adult Language.

Killer Mountain starts as billionaire medical research businessman Walter Burton (Andrew Airlee) contacts leading climber Ward Donovan (Aaron Douglas) & says that an expedition to the highest unexplored mountain in the world in Bhutan have gone missing, there has been no contact with them for weeks & Burton ask's Ward to lead a rescue mission. At first Ward refuses but once he learns his ex-girlfriend Kate (Emmanuella Vaugier) is amongst the missing Ward's attitude changes & he can't wait to get up there. Flying to Bhutan which is in Nepal all of the locals have fled & only a small team will venture up the mountain lead by Ward & containing Burton's son Tyler (Paul Campbell) & sexy doctor Nina (Crystal Lowe). Once on the mountain the team face danger from all angles, the bitter cold, the treacherous terrain & huge mythical flesh eating creatures that supposedly guard the ancient lost city of Shambala that holds the key to eternal life...Directed by Sheldon Wilson this made for telly SyFy Channel creature feature isn't the worst offering the channel has ever served up but that's hardly any sort of recommendation on it's own, Killer Mountain is almost a decent film & certainly better than most SyFy Channel muck but I still didn't think it was particularly good. The one thing that Killer Mountain has going for it is that there's more going on than usual in these SyFy Channe flicks, there's the previous stranded expedition, the current one that gets trapped, the dangerous terrain, the monsters, the lost city, the Bhutan military show up & there's just a more going on than I expected. None of it is particularly enthralling, I mean it's still fairly predictable, shallow & has the usual sloppy storytelling but overall Killer Mountain is better than I expected without being brilliant. The character's are clichéd & dull but serve their purpose, the dialogue is forgettable & you won't care what happens to anyone but again their a notch above the usual SyFy Channel product. Killer Mountain is bland & forgettable it passes an hour & a half harmlessly enough I suppose, not bad if you know what to expect & have suitable expectations.Surprisingly the production values aren't too bad on Killer Mountain, the film has a cold dark feel which helps & while some of the mountain climbing scenes look a little tame & unexciting they add something overall. The CGI computer effects are also better than expected, sure no-one is going to be convinced by that CGI helicopter but the monsters are usually kept in shadow or seen in quick flashes which helps. There's no real gore here, there's a bit of blood splatter & a bitten hand but Killer Mountain lacks any memorable kills which is a pity.The IMDb says Killer Mountain had a budget of $2,000,000 which I find hard to believe, there's way it had a budget that high or if it did I can't see what it was spent on. The acting is alright, everyone seems to be taking it seriously.Killer Mountain is better than the usual SyFy Chanel creature feature but that isn't saying much on it's own, watch it if it's on telly & your desperate but otherwise don't bust a gut to see it.

Staying home for the recent storm, I decided to check out Syfy's Saturday night movie to see if it might be another schlock masterpiece like SHARKTOPUS or MEGA PYTHON VS. GATOROID. Instead I was pleasantly surprised to see a movie that actually took itself, and its monsters, seriously.KILLER MOUNTAIN is about a mountain climber (Chief Tyrol from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) who goes to rescue his missing girlfriend from a forbidden mountain. Once he and his fellow climbers (including hottie Crystal Lowe from FINAL DESTINATION 3) get to the top, they realize that the whole thing was a ruse. The reason goal of the mission was to uncover a "fountain of youth" (or something) that a greedy corporate type wants to use to cure himself and then sell on the open market. It turns out that the mountain is really the hidden location of Shangri-La (they call it Shambala).The cool part is that Shangri-La isn't the mystical city we've seen before time and time again. In this version, Shangri-La is an abandoned, underground alien city that is home to hungry alien monsters that are bent on protecting it.The most interesting thing about KILLER MOUNTAIN is that the creatures aren't the sole focus of the story. It's actually an adventure film first, creature film second, which I liked. There's some twists and turns and it's never boring. And they managed to stick in a couple of GALACTICA references which is always fun.What's not so good about it is some questionable CGI... it's the only thing that makes the movie look low budget. Bad FX aside, KILLER MOUNTAIN is definitely worth checking out if you're sick of the same ol' campy creature stuff.

Something about some mountain climbers scaling a 25,000 foot peak; looking for the mythical Shambala, and getting their hands full with a mysterious thing that likes to wreck helicopters, base camps, and of course any people it can get its hands on. Also, some trigger-happy demented army Captain and his grunts show up out of nowhere to croak anybody the creature doesn't get first.There's a few random scares here and there; and that's the magic word for this film: random. The plot is incoherent and meandering, and nothing ever makes sense. The cast do the best they can with the transparent characters and the absence of a story, but they get chopped up in the attempt, just like their characters do every time the monster or the homicidally obsessed army captain show up. I guess the film had to throw in the lunatic army guy to spice things up; even though mountain climbing is an adrenalin rush for its practitioners, its excitement level simply does not translate to screen very well.It's not too clear what the creature is supposed to be, or why it's slamming everything and everybody on sight. Is it protecting Shambala from interlopers, or is it just hungry from the lack of eatable meat at 25,000 feet of elevation? Is it a resurrected dinosaur? A crash-landed alien? A deformed Yeti? A toothy dragon? A mutated freak from genetic experimentation? Don't ask me; all you ever see is a high body count. Think Michael Bay-type movie making, but with a smaller budget. If you go in looking for nothing but brainless action, then Killer Mountain is OK to kill a couple of hours.
