Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee is the man who gave us several good comedies like GOLMAAl, NARAM GARAM.etc KHOOBSURAT too is one of his famous works, in fact its being remade now The film does have a sort of deja vu from his earlier works like BAWARCHI and especially the characters are quite similar but yet it works Hrishida was a genius in making lighthearted family film. The film is a well made film and makes you laugh throughout even though being simple.Direction is awesome Music too is goodRekha gives one of her finest works and gets immersed into the character and is full of fun, Rakesh Roshan is good too Dina Pathak is excellent, she portrays the patriarch very well, Ashok Kumar is likable as usual, Ranjit Chawdary is very good as Jagan, Shashikala is good, Keshtu Mukherjee and David are as usual rest are okay

Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khubsoorat is a fantastic and simple family entertainment. It is well written, well acted and directed, and is thoroughly funny and exciting. I enjoyed every moment of it, including the songs, the story, the characters, and everything else it dealt with. Khubsoorat presents the brighter side of Hindi cinema, which is not melodramatic, which is more restrained and easy-going. The charm of this little gem comes from its depiction of simple everyday issues, but it also manages to make a genuine impact on the viewer. It portrays upper-class urban families beautifully, it is realistic throughout, and the acting is natural. The ever-amazing Rekha presents a different side of her personality. She lets go of her enigmatic sex-appeal and switches her exotic beauty with a tomboyish, endearingly naive look of a smart and witty girl-next-door. The result is effective - her comic timing is brilliant, and the zest she adds into her character makes Manju Dayal very memorable. Ashok Kumar is as always wonderful, gracious and likable all through as the kindhearted father, Dina Pathak is impressive as the overly strict mother, and Rakesh Roshan and Shashikala support well. I must note my favourite sequences towards the climax when Ashok Kumar's character falls ill and Manju worryingly looks after him. The scene in which he wakes up and realises she was there taking care of him was very moving. All in all, whoever you are, do watch Khubsoorat, it will make you feel much better. A pleasurable watch indeed!

This is movie from a different era - reminds you of the times when the values were different. Joint family and obeying elders were the norm and individuality would take a back seat. Rekha challenges the joint family rules and brings in a fresh breath of life to the stifled family members. Values and lifestyles are changing, albeit slowly, and this movie reminds you of the days when you had fun with such simple thingsRekha and all the cast members do an excellent job in this movie. The characterization is such that you get to know every member of the family. This is one of the best of the simple clean movies of 80's
