Johnny Guitar Trailers

On the outskirts of town, the hard-nosed Vienna owns a saloon frequented by the undesirables of the region, including Dancin' Kid and his gang. Another patron of Vienna's establishment is Johnny Guitar, a former gunslinger and her lover. When a heist is pulled in town that results in a man's death, Emma Small, Vienna's rival, rallies the townsfolk to take revenge on Vienna's saloon – even without proof of her wrongdoing.

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

This movie had a personal EFFECT upon me. my husband - at the time was named John - but we called him Johnny because he was the baby of the family. As my mature husband - he was a "traveling employee for Avildson Tool Corp, - (Yes, the same Alvidson that won an Academy Rewardfor "Rocky") I played piano at the time - I started lessons at age six - It was after many years that I was was married to Johnny . I played mostly classical music. Chopin was my favorite - Etudes an Nocturnes. I saw the film - "}Johnny Guitar" and was very intrigued with especially with Mercedes' Cambridge part. But, of course - the fiery passion between Joan Crawford and Sterling - oh , well - we know how that goes. The song also got into my guts and I had to learn how to play it, AND I did ! My version was very good . from piano to forte. A crescendo from start to finish. It exemplified the two main characters - Joan Crawford and Sterling Haden.

A strong willed female saloon owner (Joan Crawford) is wrongly suspected of murder and bank robbery by a lynch mob, when she helps a wounded gang member.I can see why this western has something of a cult status. Certainly an outlaw who has a guitar strapped to his back rather than a gun makes for an interesting character. And it asks that age old question: can a leopard change his spots? Can Johnny Logan become Johnny Guitar? Joan Crawford leads the film, apparently because she helped produce it. For the life of me, I never figured out her appeal. Her acting is good but no great. She is no joy to look at. And from what I understand, she was more or less a terror to everyone around her. How did she ever get to be as big as she was?

I've watched this movie once on TV with my dad. Though I don't remembered much from it, I do recall being pretty intrigued by the overall story, rooting for the cowgirl-like character Vienna (Joan Crawford) stand up against an evil gang, led by the nefarious and cold Emma Small (Mercedes McCambridge).I remembered Emma Small being a notorious and evil character and provided much of the thrills and suspense in the movie, and seeing Vienna trying to outdo the bad Emma was nothing short of satisfying.Though released in 1954, the movie was filmed in brilliant color and, while the acting may have had its campy moments and the plot could have used more good guy vs. bad guy elements, it was still a pretty exciting little western for me as a kid to watch back in the day.Grade B-

Hello. My Mother took me to see the movie Johnny Guitar on my sixth birthday in 1954 at the Majestyk Theater in San Antonio, Texas. I remember many of the cast and the plot and within the last year caught the movie during the wee hours one night on TV. The movie theater was memorable as well, like I am still standing in it. Inside, it is a striking, pleasant 50's Mexican-deco with splashy, flashy swirls of colors including oranges, yellows on the walls and in the plush carpets throughout including the carpets on the stairs. The movie house is in the downtown district very near the Alamo. The whole event is engraved in my memory.
