This classic "Peanuts" tale focuses on the thumb-sucking, blanket-holding Linus, and his touching faith in the "Great Pumpkin." When Linus discovers that no one else believes in the creature, he sets out to prove that the Pumpkin's no myth—by spending the night alone in a pumpkin patch.

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

This childhood classic held the test of time for 50 years. I remember seeing this on CBS back in the day. After this cartoon played, it was followed by GARFIELD'S HALLOWEEN ADVENTURE. So what the animation seems crude, it is the story and humor that steals the picture. Who can forget Snoopy's dogfight with the Red Baron? Who can forget Sally and Linus waiting to see the Great Pumpkin. Who can forget Charlie Brown getting nothing but rocks? It once aired on CBS and in 2000, it aired on ABC just like all the other classic Charlie Brown specials. It got spoofed over the years and let me tell you, you are going to love it. It is rated TV-G like all the other Peanuts Specials so you will enjoy it. Happy Halloween.

Like the Charlie Brown Christmas special one year earlier, this special also centers itself around a national holiday. This time, it's Halloween. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is one of my favorite TV specials ever, because it's a lot more comedic. You know how during some holidays, adults pass on to kids stories about these imaginary characters that give gifts to good kids (like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny), and they make them believe that those imaginary characters actually exist? Have your parents made you believe that there's a Great Pumpkin that gives toys to good kids every Halloween? No, they never did that. No one does that. That's not how Halloween works for kids. Every Halloween, kids dress themselves up in costumes, go around the neighborhood, and receive candy from their neighbors. Linus, on the other hand, made himself believe that there's a Great Pumpkin that gives toys to good kids every Halloween. So this special features him waiting out in a pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin. That's the thing that makes this a great special, because it sets him up for the hilarious outcome when the Great Pumpkin never appears. In the Peanuts universe, Halloween is the only day of the year where one of the kids is a bigger fool than Charlie Brown. And all he got is rocks.

What's the movie that you watch every Halloween. Okay technically for me it's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, but I also watch this every year. And who doesn't? This movie is classic Halloween fun. It reminds me of the olden days of Halloween when I was a little kid. From the scene where Snoopy is fighting the red baron, to when Charlie Brown (Peter Robbins) is informed that he was supposed to be placed on a black list of people not to invite at the party (by the way, the only other person who does that is Joseph McCarthy) to the scenes where Linus Van Pelt (Christopher Shea) waits for the great pumpkin, this short has everything you could want. My family watches it every year, and you should too. If of course you don't already.

I adore this classic American animation. The Peanuts characters have deservedly found fame well beyond American shores, indeed they are legendary, and this animation is, to my mind, the very best. Who could fail to be touched by Linus's faith as he waits in the pumpkin patch? What a character he is - sensitive, kind, wise beyond his years, long suffering (Lucy sees to that!), blanket hugging... and a believer in the Great Pumpkin.Charlie Brown's experiences of trick or treating (how bitter sweet childhood is!), Snoopy's fantasy life, Sally's devotion to Linus, the wonderful 'Lucy and Linus' theme, all add up to a tremendous show - every bit as excellent as the famous comic strip. Highly recommended.
