n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

I saw this at it's premier at the Kensington Odeon in 1968, the week my wife and I married. (We had actually gone along to see what turned out to be the supporting movie staring Dudley Moor). I consider it to be one of the best written, directed and acted movies I have ever seen. Such a simple story so elegantly told, set in London's Chelsea and Kensington toward the end of the "Swinging 60's". I think it's the best of Oskar Werner's movies and I thought Barbara Ferris so wistfully innocent in her character. Such a tragedy Virginia Maskel should take her own life before getting the credit her portrayal deserved also. When Werner & Ferris meet again after so many years it is so very clear she never stopped loving him. I have an original Timi Yuro 45 of the theme song also.

The work of Oskar Werner and Barbara Ferris not to mention Donald Southerland is wonderful in this film. But by far the best performance is Oskar Werner as the conductor Stefan Zelter who is totally absorbed by his music while having an affair with Sally (Barbara Ferris)and still being in love with his wife and a good family man. The conflict that he experiences trying to be true to all the things in his life that are important to him comes across beautifully with much sensitivity. The cinematography is wonderfully done with wonderful shots of The Royal Albert Hall. It would be a crime to let this beautifully made film be forgotten. It should be restored and placed on DVD so that everyone can enjoy this beautifully artistic film

I loved this movie. I saw it once on TV in 1972, and never forgot it. It is a very moving love story, with the exceptional acting of Oskar Werner. It is my favorite movie of his, and he is my favorite actor. He was totally believable as an attractive orchestra conductor, married, in love with a young English girl. The story, the acting, the photography, and the music are wonderful. This movie has not been released officially on video or DVD. I would love to own a DVD of it. I recommend this movie highly. Oskar Werner seems to be playing himself! We are used to seeing Oskar Werner in character parts in American movies. I would love to collect his German movies, but cannot find them. I am a student of German and particularly enjoy hearing Oskar reading German poetry on records, now available on CD's. I am enjoying in particular hearing an interview he gave just before his death (heart attack) in 1984. Oskar Werner was mainly known as a stage actor, and each of his movies is a gem. I have read that his efforts to have his own theater in Salzburg did not work out due to his problems. He was both melancholy and exuberant. As a student of German, and a lover of Vienna, Oskar's home town, I am enthralled with all of his work. This simple movie "Interlude" is my absolute favorite of all of his movies, and highly recommend it. It will show a sexy side to this man which we never see in his other movies, in a very moving love scene. Cheers to Oskar Werner! I miss you, Oskar!

I saw this excellent film when it was first released in 1968 in a Beverly Hills, California theater. Suffice it to say, if the memory of a film can stay with you for 37 years, it must be an impressive work. I have always wanted to see it again and never have. I understand it has not been released in either VHS or DVD -- a real shame. Oskar Werner was a superlative talent and the movie was beautifully crafted -- the story, while not unique, was poignantly told, the cinematography sublime and the music heavenly. I wonder who we might petition to release this film in DVD format. I called my local video store today and they gave me the sad news of it never having been released by Columbia.
