Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Two families visit an isolated show home only to discover that they can't leave. The house doesn't lock them in, they just can't leave the area as whichever way they turn they find themselves back at the house. The house kindly provides food and not so kindly lots of ghostly mind games that drive a wedge between the families and each other.Initially I found myself enjoying the film but the creators quickly ran out of ideas and it found itself in the realm of one of those horror flicks that makes the rules up as it goes along and never really explains anything.Starring Art LaFleur this could have been something quite special if the creators had thought the whole thing through. It's like the television show Lost (2004) where it became evident the writers never had some clever ending to explain everything that happened and just went with the generic one everyone had guessed in episode 1.The Good: Art LaFleur Decent start The Bad: Poor middle & end Things I learnt from this movie: If a survivor of some horrific event has no tongue and can't talk it's not obvious to give her a pen and some paper to explain what's going on Viewing houses potential houses is best done from outside

Overall, the movie is worth watching. I believe that one must walk away from a movie with a changed perspective or emotional charge. This movie does just that; not initially, but eventually. Cinematography was EXCELLENT. I was thoroughly impressed with every decision they made. They did such an incredible job with the camera. Almost as good as "The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh". Sound was well above average. It wasn't over or under done; just brilliantly done. Lighting was flat; often dark at times, but not in a good way. The story was absolutely magnificent! Eric Hurt knows how to tell a story. A significant problem with this movie was dialogue choices. They were borderline horrible. People do not talk/behave this way. I complained throughout the entire movie saying if the dialogue was on point this movie would've been FLAWLESS. I was so mad because the conversations were painful. The acting was really good at times with a few speed bumps of inconceivable choices. They casted really good actors. There were a few scenes where the director should've re-done them. I cringe when I don't see perfection, but as the movie continues you can clearly see that he gets better at directing. The script and acting steadily gets better as you watch the movie, so if you're a critic like me... it's still worth the wait. Costumes and make-up were good. Despite a sketchy script, the story makes this movie worth while. I look forward to seeing what Eric's got cooking in the oven.

Two families in search for a new home are advised by a quirky real estate agent of an available location for the right price. The first family arrives at the deserted farmhouse, but it doesn't feel right. As they attempt to leave the drive just brings them back to the same spot at lot 6485. A bit bewildered, they begin to fear they are stuck in real estate hell. Then another family arrives and can't actually believe what is happening. The two families don't exactly see eye to eye, but they realize they are being haunted by a former owner, who declares only a deserving clan will occupy the homestead...his! A psychological and supernatural thriller that features a ho-hum cast: Marc Singer, Art LaFleur, Victoria Vance, Hayley DuMond, Paul McGill, Emma Rayne Lyle with Jon Cobb playing the weird Realtor.

"Two very different families search for the perfect house to call home. When both families show up at a deserted farmhouse, it quickly becomes clear that something is not right. After rescuing Hanna, a lost girl whose tongue has been cut out, they discover that every attempt to leave the farm takes them right back to the front door" I bought this film of the shelf in a supermarket, quite cheap and figured well the bad acting will be amusing at least since most films I buy like that are! Well I put it off for a week or so and was at a loose end so thought why not give it a watch.I am so glad I did - I was glued! It's not your typical gore-fest most Horror lovers seem to like nowadays, more cerebral as the characters descend into desperation and become haunted by their own personal demons the longer they are trapped. The film doesn't explain itself to you and requires you to put yourself in that mindset - what would you do? and I think that is what a lot of people don't like, it just is.The acting was convincing enough, characters believable and setting was relatable. The actors in the film I hadn't heard of except for Marc Singer who was in Beastmaster (1982)when I was 4/5, but that didn't bother me. I hated the characters who were nasty and empathised with others who were trying to make the best of it which means to me they are doing a good enough job.Overall, a good find. If you want all out horror, gore and jumping out of your seat terror then this is not for you. However, if you find you want something interesting and creepy give it a go!
